Novotel London Stansted Airport

Air con didn’t work! Not sure how it’s a 4 star. Looks like an old barracks from the outside. Room was tired and bed uncomfortable. Very small for a family room

The property itself was okay. There were empty alcohol bottles in the hallway and stains on the carpet of my room. The main issue was how rude their airport transfer staff was. I wish I grabbed his name. But an overweight middle aged man literally yelled at me in front of other passengers. I had a freshly purchased coffee and about 5 minutes until the van departure. The drive mentioned I could not bring the coffee along (so I assumed he meant when the vehicle was moving - a high-risk opportunity for spillage). So I stayed on the bus (near the entrance ready to throw away the coffee prior to departure). The drive literally, yelled, "the whole point of saying no coffee was for you to not bring coffee aboard". I was honestly, just embarrassed. To be infantilized by a driver... over coffee.. on a non-moving bus. I mean come on... yes I can follow rules and very willing to. But the lack of regard. Complete disrespect. I personally don't raise my voice at anyone - I think there are proper ways to communicate. Ways that mature adults should be capable of. I know the UK tends to have this 'grumpy' attitude. But my God, treat people with a little dignity / decency/ respect.

This was an overnight stay for onward travel,the hotel was clean and tidy. The rooms, more so the bathroom was tired looking in need of a spruce up .. Parking was a bit of a pain with drive ways into other areas of the car park being blocked by people using them as a parking space which resulted in accessing some areas of the car park a pain... The transit bus from the hotel to the airport has a charge of £4 per person each way... Your not told about this until you check in..it just adds to the cost of the trip more so if a large family group in our case 8...

This hotel a 4* I don’t think so! - Room was basic with no frills. - damp smell in room with damp sheets - restaurant was over priced £12 for a sandwich and £15 for a frozen pizza! They got my daughters food wrong twice so the lady arranged a round of drinks for us…she was by far the only good thing about this stay! The beer garden was like something from a run down pub! I have attached photos, the outdoor kids area was over grown and full of wasps. We couldn’t even stay out there. - morning bus to airport is £4 each not the £3 advertised. If you miss bus or get back too early for the bus it’s £40 Uber ride for 5mins journey…you will be better off staying in hotel at the terminal…we will next time. Don’t put your family through this stay!

Great stay with family and kids. Very good room, super quiet and do not hear any planes. Breakfast really good.

The room was small and the bathroom a bit "shabby" with watermarks on the door and yellow stains in the toilet. It seemed a bit old. I booked one room for two grown ups and two children. The sofa bed for the children were rather uncomfortable and small, so I would recommend booking two rooms if you are more than 3 people. I expected more from a 4 star hotel, but it was ok. You will get a good nights sleep. And the staff was very friendly.

Please note that this hotel is quite noisy with aeroplane noises. The sofa bed is too short for an adult. Bathroom is mouldy. Good thing is there is a kids entertainment room at the lobby which is very useful for the kids when waiting for check-in.
