Warning: make sure you do not go here when there is a football tournament! This was not the peaceful break I was expecting due to a huge children's football tournament taking place at the University. I arrived with kids throwing tissue from the balcony at us whilst checking in and with noise every night with them running up and down the halls and knocking on our doors then running away. We wanted to use the pool but it was too busy plus there was an argument between one of the football dad's and security. Check swimming times. As we tried to go when everyone was at the tournament but was not able to. We thought that perhaps we should order breakfast in bed to avoid the crowds but the order menu was at reception and we were already in our pyjamas so we thought we'd just go to breakfast abit later the next morning. Breakfast by the way is only 7-9am - which I don't think is long enough at all. Anyway, the hotel is currently being refurbished so breakfast was served in little board rooms with no windows which obviously was occupied by the football teams so we didn't end up having breakfast as it was all too loud with children screaming. We went out for breakfast then when we got back our room was already being cleaned even though our check-out was at noon! So make sure there isn't a football match if you want a peaceful spa break here. However, the staff seemed to be very nice and the rooms clean. Our room was quite hot though.

The reception staff were lovely and very welcoming. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly but hopelessly disorganised. Five staff faffed about whilst guests queued to be served. It seemed as if each was studiously avoiding getting on with the job. So that instead of clearing tables, replenishing cutlery etc things didn't get done. Breakfast was the same, no bowls, then no cutlery again. It’s not a shortage of staff, my family work in catering, it’s a lack or organisation and good management. The facilities are nice, gardens well kept, price of stay was reasonable, room was very clean and bedding felt crisp and fresh. Stairs however look like they could do with a good clean. We will stay again.
