The Hoxton Shoreditch

such a great place to stay and explore. i love walking in to the space and being greeted by a team of happy people. how cool is that just in itself... not too formal at all, laid back and full of energy and warmth and information and suggestions if you want it. we were there three nights and every night we came back we were greeted and helped by the men at the door, or the people at the desk... best service and graciousness from beginning to end. will definitely recommend. we almost stayed at Nobu around the corner because i like that hotel atmosphere generally but the hoxton was perfect for the area and bringing my 18 year old son and showing him London for the first time. also, it was great for him to see the child out work area at different times during the day and be packed and everyone be in different modes of work solo or with someone or hang out and chat. would love a space like this in the east bay / bay area, california...

When I arrived, I was not pleased with the location/view & size of my room. Beatrice arranged a different room for me the next day. It had a much better view & was more spacious. There was a receptionist whose name I did not get - she was white, with dark hair and a bang. I had a couple communication issues with her because she didn't seem to understand English that well. The other receptionists were splendid. The hotel was walkable to public transit, restaurants, grocers and other stores. It was very easy to get around. The only issue I experienced, and it was a major one, was that half way through my stay (I believe Wednesday the 18th), the front desk staff put a family directly next door to me. The family had a baby. My room had an adjoining door to their room, & it sounded as if the family was in the room with me whenever they would talk or the baby would cry. This really ruined my holiday vibe. As someone staying in a room for 9 days and spending around $3,000 USD, I would really not like to be disturbed at 1 AM, 2 AM AND 6 AM, in the middle of the night, due to a crying baby. This was very inconvenient. I spoke with Beatrice at checkout and explained my grievances. She apologized &stated that the family never should have been placed in the room next door to me. I advised I didn't mention it because I didn't want to move to a third room & didn't want to inconvenience the family. This could've been avoided from the beginning had the receptionist looked into the details.

Always love the Hoxton hotels! Had a brilliant experience from check in to check out. The lovely person at reception gave us some water, made conversation and gave us a quiet room as we said it was a night away from the kids. Just lovely and thoughtful and genuinely everyone was pleasant! They always are at the Hoxton.
