Montcalm Royal London House - City Of London

Hi, on arrival checking in we were not advised that use of the spa & pool would be unavailable after check out. This was very disappointing to discover when we checked out as this being a first trip away after having a baby and the hotel was booked with the use of the spa & pool in mind. We checked in at 3pm and we’re clearly dressed for the Taylor Swift concert, therefore would be heading straight out of the hotel and not returning until late that evening. Had we have been advised that the use of spa & pool would only be up until check out the next morning, we would have done this & used facilities. We also shared that we would be happy to change in the toilets after using the facilities and would leave our luggage in the bag store but was refused by the spa receptionist. This has truly ruined what was meant to be a great night away to relax.

Great value with excellent service in a great location. Without exception every member of staff is polite and helpful. We were checked in by Kseniia who was lovely. She explained everything and that by staying in a club room we were entitled to a complementary continental breakfast (which was fresh and tasty) and also complementary drinks (alcoholic) and snacks (5.30pm - 8.30pm). We were out and didn’t get the chance but maybe next time!! The room was clean and large. Decent shower and large sink. Bed was comfy. Windows floor to ceiling with a city skyline view. As it was my wife’s birthday there was a handwritten card and bottle of red wine (a nice touch) My wife doesn’t drink red but they gladly swapped for a bottle of white on ice! Kseniia phoned us to check everything was ok, that was a nice touch. Thank you. Towels and robes were fluffy and clean. 1 floor up to The Aviary - a roof top bar with outside pods. A great view towards The Shard in the distance. We took our family there after our meal before they left us and went home. Great vibe with a good DJ. Once again the service was excellent. Earlier in the day as well as the evening we were served by Gulam. He was a great guy, very talkative and friendly. When he found out it was my wife’s birthday he brought us a surprise. A special happy birthday brownie cake - another nice touch. Otilia checked us out. She was lovely too, very professional and wished my wife a happy birthday. She enquired over our stay and what

We booked this solely as a place for our kids to unwind and use a pool on our last night in London before we flew back to the states. Upon arriving, we were told it’s 16 yrs of age or older only outside the hours of 9-12am. No exceptions made - complete rubbish service. None of this was made clear at the time of booking. On top of that, the power went out to all the lighting in our room the morning of our departure. Good for adults, not for children - families beware.

I stayed here for a festive weekend with my family. My daughter enjoyed the weekend immensely. I wanted to say a big thank you to January and the Montcalm team. The customer service provided was outstanding. The Montcalm staff team were always friendly and had a positive manner and were always happy to assist which makes the stay more enjoyable. Look forward to my stays here in 2023.

The service was great, but it was incredibly noisy, and the air conditioning kept us up all night. The rooftop bar is nice, but music was loud and you could hear people walking all night. Not very family friendly location.

I stayed here as a solo adult traveling with my two young children, both under 10 years. I had a car from the airport pre-arranged with the concierge that was not present upon our arrival. Upon departure of our stay I wrongly decided to give the concierge a second chance for our early morning flight (leaving the hotel at 3am)— what a mistake! Again the concierge failed to have a car ready and we waited 30 minutes adding stress to our travel day, during an extremely high-stress travel time. The room itself was nothing special. The highlight was that there were nightlights available and the plush robes. The hotel knew I had two children— three of us total, but only left two towels our entire stay.

Wow ! What an amazing hotel. We stayed here for a few days whilst visiting London/seeing the sights. Rooms modern and luxurious, fully functional. Rooms also very clean.The staff were extremely courteous, nothing was too much trouble. We were initially in a suite on the 3rd floor , however we are light sleepers and we were disturbed by a humming generator outside our room in the night. The reception staff the next day immediately apologised and moved us to the 7th floor to an upgraded suite which was extremely quiet. They even threw in a bottle of wine and some chocolates by means of an apology! I would definitely recommend this hotel. It is a real gem. Burger and fish finger sandwiches in Burdocks (hotel bar) were delicious. Room service menu, very good. Location for City, excellent but for attractions, a little bit off the beaten (tourist) track. Staff were very attentive to our needs. Gym very good, has all the main equipment required. Pool beautiful but restrictions re kids usage so check the times. Overall really great place to stay, good value.Would definitely recommend and plan to return. Top tip, invest in club room facilities.

Terrible stay, children are not allowed in the swimming pool I stayed at this hotel with my newborn and wife for New Year there was no seating areas Baby got woken up multiple times throughout the evening Would definitely not be going back
