DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London - Chelsea

I had paid for the hotel stay before our arrival. However the hotel reception team asked My card details ‘ just for security reason’. I noticed that they charged £133.81 and they still have not refund the fee yet. Today is the third day I am chasing my refund. I have fund the hotel staff very unprofessional, rude and inefficient. I would never stay again and would not recommend to my family or friends to use Hilton hotel chain.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The room (we had a king-sized bed) was a good size with a desk and large TV. There was a fridge in the room below the safe. An ironing board and iron were provided. I appreciated the tea kettle with instant coffee and tea bags. Crabtree and Evelyn hand soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner were nice touches. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is located just a few minutes from the overground rail station, which will pretty much connect to just about everywhere. There were many positives about this hotel but there were a few negatives. For one, it seems the hotel is under constant renovation. On our 2nd day at the hotel, they walled off the bar area to apparently work on that. The 2nd elevator wasn’t functional - which meant waiting for the remaining one, cramming people in and sharing it with the laundry cart. We ordered fish and chips and mushy peas from the bar while it was still open (and the restaurant was closed). Wimpy chips, over-battered and over-fried fish and saltless peas. Speaking of food in the area - it’s minimal. Every nearby restaurant is really not so near so if you are disabled, I think you’re at the mercy of the the hotel. There is a Tesco Express supermarket across the street and a small coffee shop near it. If you’re willing to walk, there are some better places within .5 to a mile from the hotel. One note - the water out of the bathroom tap is scalding hot. Just a warning to those with kids.

Overall a very satisfactory stay. It was a 30th birthday weekend away in London in a very respectable area. Unfortunately our first night was badly disrupted by a very anti-social and obnoxiously rude family in the room next door. This can't be blamed on the hotel, however, as the staff tried their best to contain this simply out of control family. The second night we were moved to a different room where the experience increased considerably. My only other observation was perhaps the hotel would benefit from some soft door closures for the rooms to prevent the constant slamming of doors.

Charges twice, given a room which stunk of cigarettes before being moved into a room sandwiched by two families with babies. Will not be coming back to this Hilton

comfortable room, noise proof, breakfast was really good, kids menu in dinner is something family with young children should look for as its pretty reasonable price for the portion size given. courteous and friendly staff, tried their best to satisfy a not so polite customer in the bar. will definitely recommend for family with young children.

Overall we had a decent stay. The hotel was in a good location for us, it was steps away from bus stops and the overground, and a Tesco express across the street. For people with children, there is an indoor play place right next to the hotel. There were a few things that we weren’t happy about that need improvement. Several staff members seemed rather young/not well trained. I didn’t expect 5 star service but I would rate the service about 1-2 stars. The bar staff weren’t friendly and the service was poor. We ate at the hotel our first night and all of our food was awful. Do not recommend eating there. Ok to go for a pint, but nothing more. The beds weren’t very comfortable, and the pillows were very flat and offered no support. We found the hotel a bit loud. The noise from the road was very loud. It almost seemed like the windows in our room were opened and the noise from the hallways and neighboring rooms was also loud. The bathroom wasn’t very clean and the bathtub plug didn’t work so we couldn’t use the tub for our son. The walls were full of water stains due to poor ventilation. Definitely could use some improvement.
