Taking our grandchild to see Peppa Pig we decided to use our free night from hotels.com to stay in Leeds. We chose the hotel as it was located well for us and offered a good standard. The Leonardo were helpful in holding our bag whilst we went out with the grandchild (prior to check in), on checking in the staff were very courteous and gave us complimentary drinks and cake. The room was pleasant and comfortable but had an adjoining door to next door (locked) which wasn’t very sound proof so we could hear the residents of the room on occasions! Around the corner from the hotel about 3 minutes walk is Ciao Bella where we had a lovely Italian meal and we would recommend to anyone. However overall we were pleased with The Leonardo Hotel and would return if in Leeds again.

It was fair, had far better in Leeds. Booked superior twin got a standard family room. Very basic compared to others and hotel wasn’t as close to centre as I hoped.

Stay was good, room was clean and comfortable although the single bed felt lower on one side assume the base is broken? Walls are thin could hear crying baby next door all night which woke us up My friend had a car which she struggled to park on the Bowman road and luckily got a spot in the car park but this won’t fulfil all hotel guests

On the Friday, first night of our stay, we went to the hotel bar for a drink when we returned, to find there was no draft beer or minerals available and that they had also run out of whiskey. This is very disappointing. On Saturday, although the towels were changed and beds made, the room was not cleaned. Used cups and glasses were left and tea and coffee not replaced. The general appearance of the hotel was grubby and not to the previous high standard we have seen on previous stays. Breakfast on Sunday morning was poor. The sausages and rashers were cremated. Our room was not cleaned on Sunday at all. The fire alarm went off at 3am Monday morning. A guest on the 6th floor with us was in a wheelchair and her daughter didn't know what to do as the lifts were not working. We went down the emergency exit staircase to find other guest out side in the rain at the main door. There was no staff there to organise people, take a head count or explain the situation. It turns out it was a water leak from the 7th floor, which lead to water pouring through the ceiling in the lobby. We were allowed to return to our rooms around 4am. The staff were nice and friendly, but we felt like there has been a dip in the standard we have previously experienced. I understand Covid has had an effect, but proper cleaning and upkeep would go a long way towards getting people to recommend to friends and family.

The condition of the room was not as good as it is shown on the photos, and the room could truly use a renovation and some maintenance. First of all, the door lock won’t work properly. After exchanging a couple of door keys, my family and I still don’t have luck open the door at first, or second, or even the third attempt. We need to swipe about 10 times to get in the room. I complained to the reception, and they couldn’t offered me a room changed at the time. The faucet is also a disaster. The faucet swivels every time when turning on and off. The good point is that the maintenance team fixed it but left the faucet at a very funny position to operate. The house keeping team worked very hard. We went out for the day and came back around 5pm and the room was not cleaned. Around 5:30 pm, the house keeping lady asked us if we need to clean our room. I have been travelled to different parts of the world and have been lived in more than 500 hotels, this is the first time that I have been asked whether the room needs to be cleaned at this time of the day. I usually think Leonardo has a good standard, but the one at Leeds, really broke my expectation.
