I visited for a weekend wedding with my wife & 2 year old daughter. The breakfast was good and value for money paid. I was there for two nights, although my room was very clean it would have been nice to have my room given a once over after the first night. There was no maid service & the double bed is small i recomned getting the executive room rather than family room, parking was £8 per night. I was lucky to get a space on site. The restaurant staff and behind the front desk were helpful & friendly. A few issues with the room key, the hotel cards are sensitive to mobile phones. All in a good weekend, its a good location.

Although we had several problems, I couldn’t fault the service of the team. When we arrived there was no parking so we were directed by the night supervisor to an alternative public car park. Although this was close by and reasonably priced, it means carrying my 4 year old in his pyjamas past drunk people outside of bars late at night. The next issue we encountered was that the hotel was overbooked, so we didn’t get the family room we booked. They told us we were ‘upgraded’ to an executive room, however this was tiny and we could hardly close the curtains as the furniture was pushed up against the window. Also; the aircon wasn’t working and as we were on the 7th floor, it was very hot. We couldn’t leave the window open because of my son not being used to the noise of traffic and not being able to sleep. Apparently it’s a known issue impacting most of the hotel but there was nothing they could do apart from putting a fan in the room which didn’t help much. I specifically chose this hotel as it has aircon and parking. I also called ahead earlier in the day and wasn’t notified about any aircon issues! We should have been notified. I called reception to discuss the issues and the staff were very helpful and didn’t everything they possibly could to resolve the issues for us.

We booked this hotel for a family stay prior to a day in Alton Towers. We were all impressed by the hotel, especially considering the low price we paid. It was clean, comfortable, and efficient, and that is all we wanted from an overnight stay. i would recommend this for an overnight stay in Derby.
