Altstadt Hotel Krone Luzern

Great location in the Old City in a very pretty cobble-stoned square. My family walked with our luggage from the train station over the walking bridge to this hotel—about 800 meters. Plenty of shopping, restaurants in this neighborhood and you have the Nine Towers very close by behind the hotel. (Great views of the city from up there). Reception staff were very friendly and the hotel was clean and perfect.

The location is great. It is in the old part of town with lots of shops and a grocery store. Everyone was great! The breakfast was fantastic, it was not included in the room rate but it was well worth the price! I stayed in a quadruple room with my 3 adult kids and we were all comfortable. Linens were great.

Spent a few days in Lucerne with the family. Great hotel, very clean, can’t beat the location. Very charming

The receptionist was a man that not be really friendly when we checked in. The young lady as house keeper was very friendly & helpful. The room has no AC, just 2 small fans that just 1 working, we called in receptionist as the man still be there to request another fan, he promised to do it, however he didn’t. Luckily I saw the young house keeper & asked her to bring in other one & electric kettle. The room was super hot & terrible in day time, so my family was suffered the problem. We know the weather changing so it’s really hot this year, the hotel needs to prepare more fans for rooms. The fan just be around 13 inches,2 fans not enough strong for whole room. It’s a nightmare to us! At night, we opened all windows that helped little bit.

We stayed here for 4 nights in June, 2013; family of 4 (2 adults, kids 16 and 8 years old). Quadruple room (two sets of twin beds in a 2/2 configuration). Room/bathroom spotlessly clean, hardwood floor, we were in room 33 (4th floor by US counting). Nice strong shower, windows opened and overlooked beautiful cobble-stoned town square (one of several in Lucerne), where we could look out to see a fountain, two open-air restaurants. We were about 10 blocks from the main train station (took cab to hotel, pricey at 25 CHF, easily walked back to train on departure). The included breakfast was very nice daily w/ cereals, croissants, bread, cheeses, meat slices, coffee/tea/milk. You are in easy walking distance of the covered bridge, train station, all tourist areas, and trams. Staff speak excellent English. Only downsides: room a bit small for the number of people, spotty Wifi connection in our room (the transmitter was 2 floors down, but we could get email when standing near our doorway); no air conditioning and Lucerne was having a heat wave (temp up to 90 F) but the provided rotating floor fan made us comfortable.
