Copthorne Hotel & Apartments Queenstown Lakeview

Do not stay in this hotel! I booked so quickly for our NZ vacation without further investigating the reviews. Now I agree with the low ratings of this hotel - all are genuine, confirming my experience. These are the reasons you should never book and stay in this place. 1. False advertising: it is NOT a 4-star place; no air conditioning exists. They use windows to ventilate the hotel. The room smelled mildew, and my kids and husband sneezed all night. 2. It is not a lake-view hotel. The picture of the hotel makes it look like it is right next to the beautiful lake from the balcony. It is FALSE marketing. It is next to the busiest street in Queenstown, with the bus stop right in front of the hotel. 3. The hotel room is filthy, and amenities are old and broken: The carpet looked like it had not been vacuumed for months. Truly disgusting. The bedsheets were not changed, which made me feel itchy the whole night, that I could not sleep. The bathroom sink was yellowish, and the shelf in the shower was broken. The TV SET was not working correctly. On the balcony, there was a bunch of hair under the chair. 4. Noisy rooms and no one can sleep: all the rooms were designed to face the main road. So you can imagine the traffic noise on Frankton Road. They do not bother installing any A/C in the rooms. So, to get fresh air, we relied on opening the windows in the room. We arrived at 2pm and the room was not ready. We were told upon check in that there were road works outside our room for the entire stay. There is no restaurant on site, only a bar which isn’t suitable for a young family, and is not open every night. The beds were very comfortable, which was the best past of the stay. Our room wasn’t serviced after our first night, I had to ask for a couple of new towels. All in all, we won’t be staying here again All in

Beautiful views from the balcony, spacious rooms, friendly staff and a lovely walk into town. Highly recommended for families as well

The property is in a great location and the two bedroom apartments are spacious and great for a family. Daily cleaning was poor (we found beer bottles under the couch when we checked in). There is also construction on the road directly out the front of the hotel so it's a bit tricky to get around with a pram.

Property was well price, walking distance to town, nice size unit for the family but is dated.

Spacious units, comfy beds, beautiful views. Well suited to a family of four. Could do with a few more cooking utensils.

I really enjoyed our stay... The staff were really friendly and helpful... The only downside was that the one wall heater in each room was not enough to keep it warm enough at all and this is at the begining of Spring and no air conditioning must be horrible in summer... Definitely recommend getting the breakfast included... Good selection of food... The veges in room service meals definitely need to be cooked more and don't add pepper all over kids veges... Could do with a little updating on decor (but understandable after the last 2 years financially)

The check in and check out procedure was extremely smooth and fast. Cleaning crew were amazing. We are the type of people that are happy to just have new towels and rubbish cleared each day as we clean up after ourselves. I forgot to tell reception one day to let the cleaning staff to do just that and they done an awesome job cleaning up after our messy children. Our bed were made immaculately. We felt very spoilt. The hotwater cupboard with the clothes hook was perfect for our wet jackets. Their onsite laundry room was perfect for us to our family washing. Our 2 bedroom apartment was pefect for our family of 5. Each bedroom had and onsuite and a shared toilet in the hallway. And an extra toilet downstairs. The price was a bargain especially during the ski season. Our family will definitely be staying here again and I have no problems recommending this property to family and friends.

Comfy beds, stroll to heart of Queenstown, breakfast with a view. Great for families.

The staff are so friendly and made check-in a breeze. The room was nice and warm for me and the little ones upon arrival. The beds are amazing. So comfortable and made for s good nights rest. Is walkable to the city but the free parking was easily accessible and the cherry on top.
