Max Brown Hotel Canal District

This was a very charming hotel facing a beautiful canal. We are a family of 4 so we ended up in the attic room which offered 2 beds. This is a narrow building but is several stories tall, which made for some very steep staircases to haul luggage (no elevator), but the staff is very good about offering to bring your bags up for you to help make this a non-issue. Front desk is manned 24/7 if needed and we found all staff we encountered to be very helpful and accommodating. The hotel is well located and a very walkable distancew from Central Station. We very much enjoyed out stay.

We arrived at around 10 pm after a tiring day and what we found was basically a scam. The room that was given to us was totally different with what Expedia had confirmed to us before. The hotel staff could not give us any proper solution and really made our stay for 2 nights on 26-28 Dec at this hotel was a disaster. Highlights: internet connectivity was ok and the bed and pillow was also pretty good. Lowlights: the rest. To name some: the super steep stairs (i know the hotel people will say: “this is a 400 years old building and this is a typical bla bla bla”, well, it all doesnt matter, clearly the hotel doesnt case about the guests ( suitcases) safety, the celing in room 210 was also dangerous, even a kid can get bump easily, let alone for the adult, and many more. We got compensated, and we thanked the hotel, however it was NOT enough, imagine that it’s supposed to be a nice 2 nights stay in one of the beatiful cities in Europe, that is Amsterdam, during Christmas holiday, and this hotel had perfectly ruined it.
