My family had a great stay at the RIHGA Royal Hotel. The hotel was in walking distance of Kyoto Station, which allowed us access to all parts of the city. They offer a shuttle service to the station as well. The rooms were clean and modern. It still had the Japanese aesthetics though in the design. The amenities at the hotel were great but I would say their staff was what I will remember the most. They were very accommodating and helpful. Would stay here again if I have the opportunity!

The hotel was amazing, spacious, very comfortable beds and has a pool ($11 entry pp) which the kids loved after lots of sight seeing and so much walking. I would definitely recommend RIHG, it was close to Kyoto train station and they run a shuttle bus every 20 minutes.

My wife said the room smelled when we first came in. She opened the window for a while until the smell was gone. We had a second room for our kids and my daughter said the seat was dirty and she wiped it with a Clorox wipe. The water in the shower every so often will become cold for a second or 2.

Had an amazing stay at Rihga, the Tatami room is perfect for families with small children with plenty of space (even for our 7 pieces of luggage). Service was excellent and super impressed with the attention to detail and cleanliness.

Stayed here for a single night with my family. The only issue I had was with the water dispenser (couldn't make it work in two different floors). Other than that the experience was great

Great location, super spacious family room, fantastic service and fabulous food quality. We arr a family of 4, traveling with 2 kids. The hotel was great right from arrival, you have to pay to use the pool but this is standard practice in Japan. No problem with tattos, except at the spa. Location is super handy, beds were super comfortable. Highly recommended

This was a beautiful and extremely accommodating hotel for our family! We were very jet lagged coming from the USA with a 10 month old and 3 year old so we had some 2am walks and 4:30am walks. It was a very safe and easy area to walk outside and there were plenty of places to walk and grab a snack in the 24 hour family marts or Lawsons. My husband and I also enjoyed the wonderful sky restaurant for breakfast. The breakfast buffet is also a wonderful assortment of Japanese and European breakfast.

Beautiful hotel with helpful staff. Despite its very smart interior and atmosphere it was friendly to families. The pool is lovely but you do have to pay an additional charge.
