Mostly ok the air conditioning was a little lacking. The drains in the showers were not good. We were a family with 3 different rooms and all had the same issues. The location was awesome and the staff were friendly. If the improved on these little things it could have been fantastic!

4 out of 5 stars

Our family of four, including 2 teenage boys stayed in the quadruple room which included one bathroom and two separate bedroom areas separated by a small foyer with a large closet. The bathroom was clean and spacious with plenty of towels and a large shower and floor to ceiling mirrors, decent sized closet with drawers and beds were good. The hotel was located within walking distance of the train station, right next to the mercato centrale with all the outdoor vendors, about a 15 minute walk to the main tourist areas. Breakfast was included and many great options. The staff was friendly. The biggest challenge was the AC. It would not get any cooler than 23C despite the front desk telling us that it was set for 20C. This made sleeping uncomfortable when we visited in early July. The hotel was also on a very busy narrow street so we really needed to know what direction we were heading before we exited the front door to prevent being surrounded by pedestrian tourists and traffic. Overall decent place given the fact we were only stayed for two nights.

I checked in for a 3-night stay. I left within hours. Here’s what happened. Spoiler alert: the experience was horrible. I arrived with my three children (10, 8, 5) in the afternoon at around 3pm. Immediately upon entering the hotel, we smelled mold. The air within was hot and humid. The poorly-lit interior was tired-looking like what you’d find in the 50s. Our room was small, ancient-looking, and hot. The AC thermostat claims 21 degrees but it felt like 25 or 26. The internet connection was spotty. Most egregiously, there were swarms of ants and hair on the floor. There was also a piece of discarded paper towel under a foldout couch. The floors were sticky as were the sheets. I had already paid for the stay but I decided to book elsewhere, and leave, as soon as possible given the unhygienic state of the room . I was lucky to find availability in a nearby hotel. We left without spending the night. When I checked out, the man at reception did not even ask me why I was leaving so quickly. I strongly suspect he knew why and cared not at all. I have stayed in many hotels in my life, in Asia, North America, and Europe. I can say unequivocally that the Hotel Corona d’Italia was the worst hotel in which I ever stepped foot.

We booked a long weekend last minute and Hotel Corona d’Italia was one of the few rooms left available in our price range. The location was excellent as it was close to the train station and also adjacent to the San Lorenzo area market. On the first night I noticed our mini fridge wasn’t cold and the handle of the shower fell off. I reported these things the next morning to the front desk- the fridge was replaced the following day but the faucet handle was not repaired during our stay (it was still possible to turn on and adjust the temperature, just a bit tricky to do without the handle). I was grateful for the two elevators, but beware of the broken hand rail. We enjoyed the breakfast but wish there was a bit more available- often I had to ask for simple things like spoons, drinking glasses and honey, and only once was I lucky enough to get a small slice of omlette as it was brought out from the kitchen to the buffet. My only other note would be to update the baby crib and baby high chair. Both were very old and not safe to use. All staff members were friendly and helpful and because of their excellent service I would not hesitate to return to Corona d’Italia.

We stayed in a quadruple family room. 2 rooms were separated by a partition. Entrance to the bathroom was from the room that our kids slept in. That was slightly inconvenient. Overall, the hotel is nice, it’s very close to the train station (less than 10 minutes walking distance). All the main attractions are within walkable distance.

This is a lovely hotel located a few minutes walk from the train station and a few blocks away from the Duomo. Very comfortable space for a family of 4. Good breakfast. Would highly recommend!
