Hotel La Scaletta

An ideal place to stay during a visit to Rome. We slept 7 nights at Hotel La Scaletta and mixed sightseeing in Rome with beach life in Lido di Ostia. It takes an average of 45 min to reach Rome’s inner city by train + metro. We bought a CIS metro card (ATAC) for 24 EUR for a week valid on all public communications except for the airport. La Scaletta, however, assists with shuttle buses on a fixed time-table to Fiumicino for a price of 13 EUR p.p. La Scaletta is next to the sea and most rooms offers at least a glimpse of it. The building is well maintained and we found our room spacious. The breakfast is not huge but big enough for a good start of the day. The main assett of La Scaletta is its staff which is a fine example of a family managed business with personality, responsibility and generosity. We were always met by a smile and received so much helpful information. The only disadvantage is that the rooms are poorly soundproofed. We truly recommend La Scaletta and do not miss the great roman excavations at nearby Ostia Antica which definitely rivals Forum Romanum in Rome!
