Castleknock Hotel

This was the last hotel of our trip and we were thrilled. The pool was great for the kids, the shareable games were excellent for entertainment and the dining was some of the best on the entire trip. The service was excellent. Although some reviews talk about the condition of the hotel, they clearly haven’t travelled around Ireland because although dated, it was well maintained.

Great location which was slightly outside the city, so it’s a bit more peaceful. It is easy to get into town with a taxi or train. The hotel is busy with weddings and other events. The atmosphere is great. The food selection was good. The rooms are a bit cluttered and dated. The pictures of the pool and spa give the impression of a relaxing oasis, which isn’t really the case. The pool is primarily used by families and their kids. I was fine with it but it isn’t a place to unwind and relax. 😃 I would definitely go back.

Maticulously kept property. Incredibly friendly staff that was the really good to my kids. Beautiful and peaceful property with delicious restaurants and a nice spa facility. Can not wait to go back again!

Food was not very good. Was very loud with lots of kids & loud music. No air conditioning, room was very warm & due to the music was not able to keep the window open.

Comfortable room. We appreciated the sauna and steam room but the pool was full of children each time we tried to swim. Decent meal in the 22 bar. Staff were helpful in giving information on buses etc. 40 min bus ride to central Dublin

Fantastic hotel, would highly recommend, the rooms and hotel are of a high standard. Nepresso machine and dyson hair dryer were such a plus to have in the bedroom. Thank you also to the reception staff for sending us a lovely warning welcome gift to the room such a lovely gesture. Great hotel for families we will definitely return with our children.

Enjoy staying in this hotel. We use it regularly. Two issues, one door to room was locked as battery had failed so paid for upgrade to family room. (Not an issue). Second, dimmer in room 164 needs to be fixed as it flickered constantly. Other that that all is good and we will be back

Some excellent attributes, some awful ones. Zero mask-wearing despite complaints in Ireland of understaffing due to COVID. Good news was finding more hand sanitizer stations than anywhere else I saw in Ireland. Crowded lobby. Noise from multiple large parties and many shrieking children - this is a truly FAMILY-oriented place and caters well to many small children - noise made it impossible to eat in the ‘higher end’ restaurant.. but good news was Ileana (restaurant manager) moving me to the quieter (but more public) bar area. Food was mediocre but service in the restaurant was great. There is a pool (indoor) that is not large enough for lap swimming. Spin class crowded, no windows, no masks, instructor with lots of energy but coughing periodically. Room amenities are great, compared to other Ireland hotel rooms - best TV options in Ireland (but still no netflix/streaming options). This is a very large place with multiple events e.g. weddings going on at once, lots and lots of families, a lot of effort on the staff to deal with so many different guest agendas. Free parking. Surrounded by golf course and easy access by driving to places to walk but not anything on the grounds for outdoor leisure (other than golf). Most offputting was the noise and unmasked crowds, but a plus was that my room was very quiet. Comfortable sleeping. No control of AC or heat in the room - room windows could be opened which was a plus. Good water pressure.Decor is of a 3star midlevel hotel.

Was a great place to stay with kids and the all of the staff we met from the front desk to both restaurants were exceptionally friendly.
