Pillo Hotel Ashbourne

Great hotel choice for a family. Convenient. And clean. I was literally horrified at the breakfast however. Awful. Literally awful. I was embarrassed for the country of Ireland when I saw the American tourists faces as they thought the same.

Excellent hotel close to Emarld Park 8min drive. Food and Service excellent Swimming pool good for adults and children

Beautiful spacious family room. Friendly staff. Excellent food. Close to Tayto Park. Swimming pool a bonus! Highly recommend.

My biggest issue is that I had booked 2 double rooms but when I checked in they only had us down (4 people, 2 men and 2 women) for one family room. When I explained to the receptionist that my booking was in fact for 4 rooms, she was unhelpful. It was only when I came down again with evidence of my bookings that she called the manager who somehow managed to find another room. The other issue we had is rowdy antisocial fellow guests (Sat pm & early hours of Sun morning) who woke us up. Apart from that, staff were efficient, polite and helpful, especially in the bar/restuarant.

Perfect for families Would of liked to use the pool but it wasn't open

Pool closes early to kids. Kids club/play area was closed during our stay. Shower drain noisy, flowing sound of water all night. Toilet backing seat would not stay up.

I was slightly disappointed with the Pillo hotel our room was dated and in my opinion needing a good deep clean, there was an empty bottle of vodka behind the curtains that the kids found, dust on the plugs and you could see hand prints all over the door, perhaps I am expecting to much as I do admit I love to clean. The pool was a different story all together, the changing area had no family changing rooms male and female split. So as a family we were divided with one large change bag, so who takes what? So I could make a suggestion to perhaps have a few of these installed. The female change room was really rough and needing up dating, some cold showers, broken lockers, peeling paint, cracked mirrors and mildew, really shocking. The pool itself was good the Ceiling needing painted or something and a good clean out, but the kids loved it, only thing was we only got 35 mins in the pool (and we were on time for our pre booked slot)when we were asked to leave to make way for more people, kids were not impressed. The reception, bar and restaurant area is beautiful, food and drink is very reasonable, the staff are lovely and work really hard. The kids disco is great, I would return to the hotel but only if the pool area and rooms have been updated as it has so much potential to be fantastic.

We had booked a baby cot months in advance but none were available when we arrived. Staff blamed this on hotels.com and offered no help

Clean hotel and room was very nice and spacious. Staff were pleasant although not overly helpful in hotel. The leisure centre staff were quite nice and helpful. We were on the 5th floor but unfortunately there was a TY ball on for our first night and the whole room was vibrating from the music. Not the easiest to get the children to sleep with that 🙈
