I arrived at 1pm and was fully aware I would wait for check-in till 3pm. Nonetheless, after enjoying the pool area with three children I returned for my room at 4pm and there was no rooms available. I was told nothing would be available because they’re fully booked and would have to wait till 6:30pm. The only other option given to me was a downgrade to another room on a different floor from my family. This was extremely disappointing being that I was told they would be ready by 3pm and not to arrive after 5pm because their check-in process wraps up between 5:30-6. I had then asked to speak to a manager because we had a wedding reception to attend at 7:30 and would not be able to wait till 6pm. When the manager came she offered no help, stated I should call Expedia if I needed other accommodations walked away and began to speak in Spanish joking about the situation. Unfourtunately, for her I am bilingual and understood every word. I proceeded to call Expedia and was taken care of as per usual. Aside from the lack of compassion and professionalism the hotel itself is a decent stay for families.

We travel with our children and grandchildren to Guatemala, and some of my children stayed for over three nights!! Others like us, one night. But everything good, can’t complain!! The only problem is the 18 dollars breakfast. I wish i paid the 7 dollars even if I don’t know if is just regular breakfast or buffet.

Very secure building if safety is an issue. Security does a great job, friendly staff accessible areas around tourist friendly and kid friendly.

Very rude. Wouldn’t allow the kids to swim. The pool was only halfway filled. They said they had a leak. I was overcharged on my credit card. A lot of strict rules. No kids in hot tub, you have to wear shoes around the pool. No creamer or sugar in the room for the coffee. They charge $20 per child for breakfast. Terrible service. Bad experience.

The only issues I had with the facility was the key card didn’t work to turn on the lights and A/C. And the phone did not work to call the front desk. The service was great and the VIP benefits make the stay extra special. Thank you Expedia for your added touch to close out this trip. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends

Is not the first time for me and my family staying at the hotel, and all ways has been a pleasure, the convenience to be close to the airport, in place with transportation, free of charge, including breakfast, and is not just the breakfast is a buffet included in the price, beautiful and clean rooms, and nice people with a lot of Securty. Nothing else to ask. Thank you 🙏 Barceló, God Bless you all.

I usually stay at Barceló every year while visiting family. I rent a few room and the staff has always been welcoming. Somehow, the check in staff lacks a bit of courtesy.

This hotel is very well-maintained and the staff is very courteous. I came in with my large host indigenous family and they were treated with deserved respect. The receptionist recommended a nearby steakhouse because we had travelled from Sololá and we were famished. The food was delicious! As a foreigner, and an advocate for social justice, I was impressed because I know of the discrimination some have faced in the past. Thanks! I would highly recommend this hotel.
