friendly staff was the main bonus and was enough communal areas for us to make friends with some other families which was great so positives is it has a friendly, relaxed vibe. definitely a place to stay as a base to cut costs in Fiji however, I was disappointed on arrival as the pictures made it look more upscale/better decor than it is. also there are many older reviews which made it hard to know what we were really getting before arriving. breaksfast was great, but dinner really wasn't great and was expensive, although there is an amazing local restaurant down the road, half the price double the portions. TV didn't work - needed to put on DVDs kids pool water colour wasn't great- didn't go in I think pre COVID would have been great where you could go over to Shangri-La. now they don't let people not staying there in it detracts from gecko being a place to stay as you have to go by car to everywhere- nothing else is nearby. there were other beachfront places which were similar prices which it retrospect could have chosen but had gone with the option of going to ShangriLa the cultural night however with dance and fire show was really good. its an ok place to stay if you just want a place to sleep however I think they are rebuilding the cultural village they used to have. once this is up and running again and a few revamps I think it will be a good place to stay at for at least a few nights and definitely does make the budget stretch further in Fiji

The stay was very homely. Rooms were good, but the service from Mere and the other ladies was excellent. Made you feel like family.

We had an awesome stay, the service was amazing, the staff were very friendly and efficient. The cleanliness of the environment was great. I would encourage my family and friends to stop over here. It is just a walk away from the Junction restaurant, one of the best restaurant in the area and just near the Shagrila Fijian Resort.

Fantastic experience in a beautiful resort with super friendly staff, all the comforts one needs to enjoy a holiday. If you are after 5 star full luxury pampering by staff focused on getting as much money out of you as possible then this is not your place. If you want a very comfortable room, with access to 2 pools, a great restaurant, a bar staffed by friendly people, a front desk that goes out of its way to help you, and beautiful tropical environment at a very reasonable price, then go to Geckos. During our 1 week stay we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We felt like family members as the staff learned our names, were super friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to make our holiday enjoyable. For the price of one night at some other resorts we had a week of comfort at great service at Geckos. The food at the in house restaurant was first class, ranging from Lobster Thermidor to a fruit platter it was all very tasty, served professionally and with a smile. The cocktails and drinks were great value, and the front desk helped us organise tours and transport faultlessly. Highly recommended!

saw good reviews on expedia and from family members on the grounds that you can use the resort Shangri-la which is across the road. On arrival 30th june 2014 there was a letter on the wall dated April 2014 stating that non Shangri-la guests could no longer use the facilities. There are no beaches or any other activities close by only a dusty road with Shangri-la on the horizon. We had a rental car so we were lucky that we could leave, but most other people didn't t, with a small swimming pool to look at, when we asked staff about activities in the area they were very vague. The food was of high standard and the rooms were clean and tidy. Been so bored with nothing to do without a 45 minute drive to natadola another resort that you have to sneak into! we decided to leave the next morning we arrived, with no chance of a refund, but we didn't t care because we didn't want to have our 5 day holiday ruined. On leaving staff weren't surprised and didn't seem to care or ask why we were leaving.

We stayed at Gecko's for 3 nights. The staff were absolutely lovely and the amenities neat and tidy. My daughter had her 2nd birthday while we were there and was treated to a lovely rendition of "Happy Birthday" from the Sunday evening dancers - a real treat! Not sure we would stay there longer as the activities for a young toddler are limited, although she loved chasing all the froggies in the garden and of course the pool. And mum and dad really enjoyed the great cocktails!!
