This is a perfect place for young or young at heart travelers! My girlfriend and I stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed the room, the cafe and bar downstairs, and the surrounding area. No kids anywhere?! It's like a perfect world haha. It did take a little to get used to the set up and small size of the room, but after a few hours I really liked it.

My child attended a summer course at Toronto University. The price of Annex is reasonable (totally 11 days), only several subway stations away from the university. There are many restaurants nearby and transportation is convenient to main tourist points. The most impressive is their breakfast, which I still miss when I return to Hong Kong.

The room was inviting, nicely decorated and spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. I like that they have a wine bar and lounge/cafe area downstairs. I was pleasantly surprised by the complimentary breakfast; since I am gluten-free, I didn’t expect there to be any options for me with a continental breakfast, but I actually had a lovely chia pudding with nuts and fresh berries. The area is great... lots of activity with bars and cafes all around. There is no actual physical concierge desk; all communication is done via text including check-in. Overnight parking is in a public lot very close by on the next block and cost is around $27. Here are the only cons, in my opinion... the hallway was really dark and narrow and made me feel a bit uneasy as a woman on her own. Also, the noise from the hallway really carries into the room so I was awoken multiple times at all times through all hours of the night by people walking and talking in the hallway. That was a bit frustrating since my reason for staying there was to get a break from my kids waking me up in the night and have an uninterrupted night of sleep for a change. So sadly, I did not get the rest I was hoping for. Overall, I did like the vibe there and would stay there again, but would make sure to bring ear plugs.

The smell.. omgsh the smell was horrific. We walked into the room and it hit us like a wall. The smell of cleaner was so strong we could taste it. We called immediately and was told it was some new cleaning agent they were using. Oddly enough for using that much cleaning agent, the room was not clean. There were little curly black hairs everywhere. The room setup is odd with the toilet and shower coming off of the main bedroom with nothing but a rimless glass door separating them. So no privacy and no noise control. If someone goes to the bathroom in the middle of the night it wakes everyone else up and everyone can clearly hear what is going on. There was a loud buzzing intermittently and randomly throughout the night and the heater seems to blow at 100 dB. I could see how this place might appeal to young couples. I would not recommend it for families. The lack of privacy, the noise, the hairs... but most of all the smell.

Huge room in a terrific location, near plenty of shops and restaurants as well as the University of Toronto campus. The service was fantastic, even for a family with a young infant. Breakfast service was delicious.

Nice, automated checking. Nice features on the room. Loved the analog LP player. Definitely not a family hotel. Lack of security control over other guests. Crazy woman yelling at 1am over corridor.
