Stone Gate Inn

I enjoyed my stay at the Stonegate Inn in Orillia this weekend. The location was very convenient for my needs. My first impression was excellent, the lobby area particularly. The check in staff were pleasant and efficient. The suite was quite large and very comfortable. Although the suite has a kitchenette, it really wasn’t equipped to prepare food , and while the hotel asks guests to clean any dishes used( I used a knife ), there was no dish soap or towels. It wasn’t a big issue at all. The suite was immaculately clean except for some smears on the window. Perhaps the last guest had a toddler.

We liked our stay here overall, but the air conditioners did not work very well in some rooms and neither did the WiFi. We enjoyed the vibe, the staff were great, and the location suited our needs very well. Having an indoor pool was also a plus for the kids.

Pet friendly so that’s always great when we travel with our fur baby

Back in the day this was probably the go-to place. Unfortunately it has seen better days. The staff was nice enough but I was glad to get out of there. “Free or continents breakfast” is a disappointment to say the least. If you are a couple or family looking for a place to stay - this isn’t it. If you’re a contractor or working in the area it’s at least crime free. And don’t use the “fitness room” - the 1990’s might call to get their equipment back. Sorry Stone Gate 👎

Price is what you pay for. We paid extra to stay in a hotel with a hot tub only to find the hot tub was broken when we arrived. Their shuttle to the casino was also not in service, which didn’t bother us, but should be reflected online when people book. Just like the hot tub. The room was large with comfortable beds, but easy to see that the rooms weren’t cleaned properly. Dust all over the lamp base and head boards, and a childrens toy sticking out of under the bed prompted me to see no one has checked under the beds to clean in quite a bit. Good enough to sleep in, but if you’re someone with an eye for cleanliness this could bother you. Coffee maker in our room was broken, so went downstairs to find large coffee pots filled with hot water and instant coffee beside it being added. Breakfast was baked goods and great value yoghurt, nothing special. We waited to order scrambled eggs as a sign said on the buffet said you can ask a waitress, but we sat in the breakfast room for 35 minutes without anyone coming in. Overheard other guests saying they ordered eggs and never got them. Wouldn’t stay here again with the other options in town, but OK for a one night stay passing through.

Property was clean, staff were good... Hockey team staying and kids were running the halls and were loud until well after midnight would be the only complaint.

There was a used needle outside the front door Very dangerous for my two toddlers but also just disgusting in general The food at breakfast was subpar

The service and amenities are very nice, welcome services and reception. Amazing for family with kids

the room was nice the phone did not work the tv remotes needed the batteries replaced one remote the batteries had sulphated in the remote. the biggest complaint was the shuttle to the casino . the shuttle could only take 6 at a time on our return the wait was going to be at least a 1.5 hr wait too long at 11.00 at nite . took a taxi which cost us $40.00 not happy if we had known this we would have driven ourselves casino is only 15 min away will not stay there again ao recommend it to friends or family

Absolutely horrible experience! Showed up to check in and there was no room. They canceled our reservation without notifying us and sold the rooms to walk in guests. There were multiple other families in the lobby experiencing the same issue. General manager was extremely rude and didn’t honour their word in finding us alternative arrangements. We were staying for a wedding and left without accommodations. Other wedding guests said their rooms were very dirty and the breakfast was awful!
