Hessenland Inn & Schatz Winery

I would like to start off by saying that the staff were kind and super friendly. The place (during the day) was nice. 3 small things that my husband and I did not like was one the water in our room (room 9). When I was trying to wash my face and brush my teeth, I would turn on the cold water and I kid you not it was warm, it was not cold at all. I had to wait 5 minutes for the water to go from warm to cold.. 5 minutes. Why? Secondly, the private beach. When I booked this hotel and read in the reviews that there was a private beach, I was excited. However, when we got there we couldn't find it. We saw a long trail that we thought maybe could have been the private beach but there was a sign that said "Private Property" my husband and I assumed it wasn't part of the hotel. When we were checking out (today - May 24th, 2024) that's when I asked a front desk lady who told me that "oh ignore that. Guest who are staying here go there for the private beach" I wish I had knew that before or there was a sign that said "Private Beach here!" something for guest to know. Lastly, my husband and I got to the hotel around 9:10pm when we were told that staff were not available and will be closing at 10:00pm. I knew the hotel was not a 24 hour service but at night was a little scary, on top of that it felt like we had the whole building to ourselves as we were the ONLY car in the parking lot! I was getting uncomfortable. Overall, it was a nice place but I wouldn't come back again.

The property outside and inside was beautiful They definitely spend alot of time maintaining the facility… the staff was very polite… the room was very clean. I had the best French toast for breakfast that I’ve ever had, that is the truth , and the syrup was local from Bayfield which complimented the French toast all the better . The prices are very good as well … I would highly recommend you stay here and especially enjoy the wine made on the grounds…we will be plain staying here again for sure … Thank you Hessenland family

I like how the property was clean and quiet. My kids also enjoy the pool, and everyone was so friendly.
