Homewood Suites by Hilton Halifax-Downtown

The suite was amazing for a family with two bedrooms and three beds. Greta views of the city! Close to the downtown and Citadel. Not the hotels fault but lots of street construction starting early in the morning making it very noisy. A great breakfast which is included.

Property is tired and in need of a refurb. Walls and couches were dirty from wear. They cleaned, that was not the issue. The pool was heated but on the cooler side so when we took our kids they did not want to stay long. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast had great options and location works really well for us. If the property did not show its age we would stay again. As it will be several years before we go back I would check new reviews. If I were going next week I would try something else first.

spacious room/suite - great for family of 5. We were able to close off the bedroom at bed time, which was great with littles.

I have been staying at both Hampton inn and Homewood suites many times when I go to Halifax since they opened 8 yrs ago. Their rooms used to be sparkling clean and with super friendly staff. Now they still have great staff but you can tell that many in room facilities are very much worn off for example the sofa, the dinning chairs, large area of the carpet all show very visible sign of worn off and stains yet the hotels don’t seem to care at all. This is the second time I stayed at the hospitality suite at homewood suites and last time I had mentioned the housekeeping should have cleaned the cigarette butts on the floor at the private patio but this time I saw a bunch of cigarette butts just all over on the patio floor and I felt beyond disappointed as I don’t smoke and I’m bringing my 7 month old this time at this suite and he’s at the stage of picking up everything and exploring the world and with the cigarette butts on the deck I can’t even put my child down and let him play. I would not stay at this property again.

Well located for tourists; kids friendly; spacious, not as good as before

Family vacation. 3 rooms booked for a one week stay. The hotel is downtown (10 minute walk to the harbour where all the tourist stuff is) and includes a decent hot breakfast. Perfect! The pool is usually crowded and kind of gross from all the kids, so we avoided it after having a look. Other than that, a fantastic stay. Kitchen in every room with pots/pans, cooking utensils, dishes and a full size fridge. The rooms were clean and quiet at night. Mattresses were good too. Not lumpy. All day complimentary coffee in the lobby (mugs to to stay in or paper cups to take with you). I think you’ll enjoy this hotel. We did.

The property was fine except for the swimming pool. It was small, the water was cloudy and the kids complained they could see hair floating in the water.

Huge rooms for a 4 family size.

Very clean facility. Suite was great for my 6 person family. Cathy checked me in and she was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful! Breakfast was hot and tasty. Even though it was busy, they were adequately staffed.

Great for families and close to downtown that we were able to walk to the waterfront and restaurants from the hotel. The suite was clean and beds were very comfortable. We missed there being an information sheet about where things were located like the outdoor common area, pool time, nearby amenities. The hotels website for this specific site was not easily accessible to look for this information which would be helpful when you have children with you and searching the hotel isn’t always convenient and there is no answer at the front desk. Each morning there was a delicious breakfast served with lots of options for all those picky eaters. Parking was pricey at $25 a day which adds up when staying for a few days. It was a great stay, and I would look for this hotel chain when we travel again as it was perfect for our family of 5.
