The Fort Garry Hotel, Spa and Conference Centre, Ascend Hotel Collection

The property itself was gorgeous. Some pros some cons. What was unique was the walkway bridge on the first floor from fort garry hotel to the next building, fort garry place. You pass by a gym and you take the stairs down and the super empty mall had a small grocery store and a couple restaurants. I liked the comfortable beds, linens and pillows. The nespresso machine i enjoyed. I did not like how the covered parking garage did not have an elevator, you had to take your luggage up the stairs, unless you dropped off at the upper level parking or the front valet. I did not like how there were no dresser drawers available, only the closet with a few hangers and some shelving. My family loved the bathroom lotion, shampoo, bath gel scents. The room itself could use a fridge. I guess what I was most disappointed in was the ballroom. You see photos and watch videos but unless you have an event at the ballroom and the other scenic areas, it’s a closed door. You can’t see it, not even a glimpse! So probably this hotel is more suited to the adult, to enjoy the fancy restaurant and the spa.

I grew up in Winnipeg and moved away in 1994. The Fort Garry Hotel is my go to place when I visit my Winnipeg family. My husband, son and I cannot imagine staying anywhere else! The oval room staff is exceptional!

We love staying at the Hotel Fort Garry. Check in was easy, coffee in the room, clean, comfortable beds. Best part of the stay was our supper with family in the Oval Room. Had the BEST server ever......super friendly, funny, professional, etc. I think her name was Nina. She had to ask for permission to serve us since we were supposed to change tables when our family arrived, but she got okayed and we all loved her. Great stay!

the Fort Garry Hotel is a family favourite and even though we live in the area, we like to treat ourselves to a stay every now and again. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, we did not get the entire experience, but the limited staff that was there were very good to us, as always. I am looking forward to another stay when COVID is gone, or at least when the restrictions are lifted to the point where the amenities free up.
