Basecamp Lodge Canmore

The room was great, very big - we had the double king room which I thought was a typo in the description but no there was in fact two king sized beds in our room. There was still plenty of area for our two littles to move around, no feeling of being crammed in a hotel room. The only down side is we were set up at the back of the building which neighbours the train tracks. They are close to the building, quite busy and did make a lot of noise but there was no horns blown so the rushing noise just added to the white noise machine we had playing for the kids. Plus my daughter loved watching the train pass by every so often during the day so it really did not bother us too much ! Would stay again, and recommend to our friends and family :)

Staff are excellent,very kind and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Love the lounge and kitchen on the 2nd. floor. Great for family and friends gathering together. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

The train behind the hotel is very close and loud. The rooms were small and cramped and the breakfast was a child’s snack and not breakfast. I don’t think you can call a juice box, cheese string and granola bar a breakfast. The saving grace of this hotel was their common room. It had a great view and lots of seating. We spent majority of our time in this area eating and visiting.

We love our room, it was spacious for our family of 4. My 10months old baby was able to crawl on the floor since there is so much space and the sofa bed was very practical and convenient.

I booked 2 rooms as we were 2 families. On 16th night we were allocated 2 rooms on 2 different floors. When requested we were denied any changes to our rooms. We had booked 2 rooms one month in advance to ensure that we were at least on the same floor.

Great place to stay with a family

Pros: Room decor was nice. Location in Canmore was convenient. Contactless check in and check out was convenient. Cons: Room overall in poor repair: outdated air conditioning unit; lightbulb burnt out in bathroom; bathroom fan weak and made horrible grinding noise; shower had poor water pressure; entire room humid/damp (poor ventilation?). Parking was immediately outside window (we were on ground floor and people would park outside window and block our view). Front staff reluctant to provide extra towels and linens (saying only enough for two at a time); made excuses about being short staffed whenever requests of them were made. We felt deceived because we thought we booked a room with hot tub access, but our room was technically Basecamp Lodge, whereas only Basecamp Resorts had hot tub access. We prebooked online for our 10 day stay, and because of the above reasons, we expressed our dissatisfaction and requested a room change on multiple occasions. We were told this was not possible as they were fully booked. We will not be staying here again and will not recommend our family, friends or anyone to stay here.

Stayed at Basecamp Lodge in July.Property is really nice and kept very clean. Rooms are very visually appealing and very clean.Yes there is a train coming by but you can’t really hear it ( all you hear is humming when it goes by, we kept our windows closed for the night). It was not an issue at all for us . We didn’t spend much time in the room as we came to explore the beautiful scenery.For the light sleeper you will find earplugs in the bathroom provided by the hotel. Fyi trains are not sounding any horns, they just zoom by. Property has a beautiful lounge area upstairs for you to sit down and relax with TV’s, fireplace, sauna, and a little kitchenette with a ice maker, kettle and microwave and a bigger dining room table for groups to enjoy snack or dinner together if you wish. We have spent some time in there having pizza and drinks after a busy day hiking. This brings me to the best part-location! This hotel is located in a walking distance from downtown Canmore. It is drastically cheaper than downtown Banff. Within a short 10 minute walk you have a ton of restaurants to enjoy and multiple grocery stores to keep your trip on the budget or grab easy snacks and pre prepared meals for you to take on a hike or enjoy with your family at the hotel. From the hotel you can easily access multiple walking trails. We did have a rental car so it made it easy for us to reach Banff and explore further. If you don’t have a car I would suggest to stay in Banff for easy public transit.

This hotel should be delisted from expedite.it is a scam They are posting pictures that Dont exist. There is no hot tubt, kitchen or kitchenette and there is no breakfast! Very small room and very uncomfortable for families Room smells Misty and moldy They don't clean your room until you check out Poorly maintained hotel with lots other options in Canmore in the same price range

Overnight stay for family of four visiting Banff National Park. The room was much larger than I expected. Very comfortable and one of the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen in a hotel. Also in a safe and convenient location.
