Hotel 24 South

This is my second stay here. I was visiting family in Highland county. Will definitely return someday in the future.

LOVE this hotel. I always stop here on my road trips home to see my family. So cozy and QUIET! Love how easy it is to walk around Staunton and the hotel's historic charm.

We chose this property for the buffet breakfast since we had a small child with our party. Due to the 11am brunch, breakfast was canceled. So we had to wait until something in the town opened. A notice on the website would have helped. Also, the rooms are small, like New York small. There were holes in the sheer curtains covering the windows.

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times while visiting family in Staunton. The hotel staff is always friendly, courteous and helpful. the accommodations are clean and spacious for two people. I like the location in downtown Staunton because I have easy access to restaurants, shops, walking park. The parking below the hotel is very convenient. I highly recommend this hotel.

The pool looks beautiful from photos, but it was quite cold, and the hot tub was not operational. The beds were hard, as well as the pillows, and they don’t even make the beds with fitted sheets, just throw some sort of gross cover like fake spider webs, and a flat sheet. There are no fridges , or tiny microwaves in the room. Do NOT eat the breakfast! The place was clean overall, and the staff especially the front desk staff, are so kind it almost makes up for everything else this hotel lacks. With that being said the guests here are under the impression they’re guests at the Hilton and behave like Karen’s. 3 Karen’s told my children to repeatedly shhhh while in the pool. They were under some impression they were in a library, which eventually led us to flea that area before serious trouble arose. I think I missed the memo there were no kids allowed when I booked the reservation here. All and all stay somewhere else, this is really overpriced for what you get!

Great location, friendly staff. Would have rated higher if not for the extremely loud music/bass thumping from 9pm-midnight. I called down to the front desk at 10pm to inquire about why it was so loud and was told there was a party in one of the ballrooms and that quiet hours would start at 11pm. We still heard the bass well past 11 despite having our sound machine turned up as high as it goes. We understand and expect “normal” hotel sounds like the comings and goings of others, but the sound of a party from our room on the 3rd floor, especially when traveling with small children, was really disappointing and exhausting.
