Comfort Inn Blacksburg University Area

We had a a few rooms here to attend a funeral and they took very good care pf pur entire family, including our pups.

The room smelled like rotting fish. The ceiling was covered in mold. Me and my kids couldn’t breath well. The pool was great. There were random people doing mechanic work in the parking lot over the two days I stayed. Breakfast was disgusting and the lobby smelled horrible too

This is a well maintained property and the people working here are well trained and very courteous. Me and my family liked this property

This was not the best property choice had in this area. At check in I wanted to change properties with in the system. The not so pleasant desk clerk said she could not change without her managers approval. I ask where is the manager ? clerk not here. Me so can you call her? clerk no. you would have to call expeida to make that change. We stayed there. The property was aged, a/c in lobby and dinning was not working and with the hot food it was go hot to eat in the dinning area. I got sick Friday afternoon and when we arrived the the hotel we ask for a wheel chair? don't have one. With baby steps and hanging on to my wife we finally made it to out room. around 6pm I messed up the bed and my wife ask if they could send up fresh bedding? no-one here to do that. My wife said where is it and I will come get it and change it myself. clerk i will see what I can do. 30 min latter some one brought the bedding and my wife changed it. I was sick all night and we left the next morning a day early. The clerk much nicer than the one before, said there would be a $40 dollar fee for leaving early. I did not feel like arguing with her so we left as 2 unhappy quest. I want to ad that the cleaning crew were very nice and helpful, at the least the ones on our floor. I feel like the $40 dollar fee should not have been charged and I will start a claim with my credit card company to have that charge reversed.

The property is not terrible nor filthy, but there neglected areas they could improve upon. The elevator is stinky and needs the carpet replaced. The stairwells are really neglected and dirty. The room is pretty clean though. I think overall, this is a tad bit above average hotel in this price range, but I don't think it would take much more to make it really good. A bit more staff (they would likely be more excited working here if they had additional workers), some elbow grease in the areas that are lower in the grand scheme of things, and just a bit of updating in elevator, lobby, and soon with furniture like the overstuffed chair in the room. I would stay here again, but I am giving an honest review because I believe it wouldn't take much more to make it an awesome hotel. I know if I were a hotel owner, I would see this review positively, I hope they do. We haven't eaten in the dining area yet, nor did we swim in the pool or use the exercise equipment, but the kids in the pool seemed to be enjoying it and it appeared these areas were in good order. Just needs some tweaking.

This is a very dark old hotel and I have been coming to Blacksburg to drop three of my kids to college here and notice how expensive the two star hotels are in the area . Mostly i think it is during fall , graduation and football games it’s ridiculous. A two night on this hotel cost over $800.

Good stay to visit kids in Blacksburg. Clean, Dog Friendly and good Breakfast! Staff were friendly and Helpful.

I chose Comfort Inn because the hotel offered an outdoor pool. It was out of order and my kids were disappointed. I wish hotels took more care in what the offer in their hotel fees. The air conditioner was an over used dust problem.
