Staybridge Suites Philadelphia Valley Forge 422, an IHG Hotel

We got a studio suite with two queens and the room was huge. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The room seemed pretty clean, but the bathroom walls were yellowing. It was quiet at night. I forgot my razor and the person running the front desk was super nice when I had to go ask for a new one. The kids said the pool was cold but they still swam and had fun. Overall, it was a great stay.

We booked this hotel for the indoor pool. The pool was clean and just the right size for them. There was only 1 other kid in the pool, so the kids had a ball playing with each other. Staff was friendly and engaging.

The staff were very nice, the kichen was useful with kids. The breakfast was good enough.

Context: We are a couple in our late forties with a nine-year-old. Visiting the area to see family. We had reservations for three nights. Staff: Staff was responsive and accommodating. Even though they don’t do housekeeping for stays under a week (we were told), they delivered clean towels when we asked. Room and other interior areas: The room wasn’t thoroughly cleaned when we arrived. Trash can had garbage and broken glass in it, and we found an intimate lubricant box in the bathroom. Breakfast area and hallways were clean. We had a king suite with a pull-out couch that we intended to use for our nine-year-old. The mattress was too beat up and sharp with springs that we ended up having her sleep in our bed. Surrounding Area: Area around the property needed some TLC. Landscaping and paving specifically. Otherwise the area was conveniently located near restaurants, retail, and the highway (without highway noise though!). Parking: Parking was easy, and we always found a spot close to the main entrance. We had an EV, but there were no charge points- so that would have helped. All things considered, the price matched the accommodations. We will most likely find a different spot next time with a higher price-point.

It was hard to get past the disgusting stench and density of cigarette and pot smoke at the entrance. Clearly people just sit out front smoking pot at all hours but especially bad in the evenings. My clothes stunk. I do not know why the hotel allows smokers to stink up the entire entrance and first floor given that the majority of rooms are non-smoking. If people do not want it in their rooms, what makes you think they want to walk through dense fog of pot and smoke? The breakfast area was disgusting. They did not bother to clean up after the bunches of younger children who were touching the foods with their fingers and using their hands to remove the eggs and sausage. Total disarray. The employees were clearly too scared to caution the kids against acting so poorly. The bathroom was scary dirty. I used a blacklight to check for stains and i immediately went and bought sandals to keep my feet from touching the floor or tub. Shower strength was terrible with the shower head leaking terribly and spraying all over the bathroom floor.
