In the heart of Downtown Pawhuska. We had a gorgeous, spacious suite decorated in a western theme. Close to the Tallgrass Prairie, Bison Loop, and Osage museum. Highly recommend the Tallgrass Prairie walking trails, driving loops, and the Bison Loop. The docents at the Tallgrass nature center are very knowledgeable and we enjoyed the property tour. We were fortunate to be there right after the baby bison were born. Triggers BBQ is nearby and it's very good. Dirty Laundry is an excellent Mexican Restaurant in downtown Pawhuska. There is a small, well-stocked grocery store in town for provisions. The PW mercantile, shops, and restaurants are across the street.

We really enjoyed the set up of the rooms in the suite. Having a kitchen was very helpful for my big family and we were very comfortable. All the stores and restaurants are very close walking distance, we felt like were in the middle of everything.

The room was nicer than in the picture - my grandkids loved it! The staff was very friendly, accommodating and always available. My only complaint is the bathroom barn door would not stay closed, which made for some laughable moments. Maybe a wooden peg and a leather loop?

You really can’t beat the location of the Frontier, which despite its name is located right in the middle of town and puts you across the street or a short walk from the various Pioneer Woman properties and other shops and eateries. You’ll also be just down the road from the Osage Nation’s welcome center. As to the hotel proper, it is quite unique. It’s a converted old office building, so it feels like you are walking through a piece of history as you go to your room. The view from each room is lovely as you’ll either see the Mercantile or the courthouse depending on which side your room is situated. The rooms themselves are wonderful. Comfortable beds with plenty of space. We had a suite that had a kitchenette and dining table as well as a couch. No cribs, so keep that in mind if you have little ones. Speaking of little ones, my only piece of constructive criticism for the hotel - and this was not something that negatively impacted my stay, I give this hotel 5 stars all around - is that the rolling doors for the bathroom would be perfect if you could latch them. For adults or families with older kids, it won’t matter, and again it didn’t cause me or my wife any major worry, but people with toddlers will appreciate not having little ones opening and closing the door. Beyond that one incredibly small matter, the Frontier (and Pawhuska in general) get a well-earned A . Friendlies people you’ll ever meet.
