Lake Norman Hotel

Don't go here and stay away! Just kidding. I jokingly wrote to stay away because this place is so awesome and don't want it to get too crowded. Seriously, this place is great, the people running it are great and the location is great. A nice gem and a must see.

For the price point [100-120.00] in this very hotel limited area, it is outstanding. However, it’s a motel with the doors to the outside not a hotel. Keys to the door and not a double locking door with a proximity card. Window units for HVAC. The bed and pillows were average and took up the very small room. There was a small wooden table with 2 wooden chairs that I can’t imagine would have been comfortable. The “coat rack” had one wire hanger on it. The bathroom did not have any counter space to place a toiletry bag nor was there shampoo or body wash. There were two bars of the smallest, cheapest soap imaginable. Towels were soft but very small and the toilet paper was 500 grit sand paper; I’m just being honest. However, there appeared to be a restaurant and bar on the property and while I didn’t partake/don’t know if it was open off season, that’s handy to have given the remote location. Finally, there was no drop box for my room key so I had to call the emergency number for directions on where they wanted the key. So if you’re going there solo or with a “low maintenance” significant other, it’s satisfactory-ish but leaves much to be desired. If you’re going with a high maintenance significant other and/or kids…yikes and good luck.
