La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Univ Area Chapel Hill

I stayed here while visit Durham for a family reunion and I can’t wait to come back again.

It’s noisy. Located on the highway and there were kids closer to my room and they were loud. I complained about that. The hotel is clean. Not so many options on this breakfast.

We were only 5 miles from Duke University Hospital which was very convenient to visit a family member. We appreciated the continental breakfast that offered scrambled eggs, sausage patties and biscuits and gravy among other breakfast items.

The walls are really thin, there was a family on my floor and they would stand in the hallway and yell back and forth to each other after midnight.

I personally would like a refund on my stay. The first night we had a room that smelled terrible and listened to the neighbors.. The walls are thin. The room was also filthy. The second night was quiet and our room did get switched. The third night the floor was sooo loud with kids messing around. I called the desk a few times.

Unfortunately, there were numerous groups of kids staying at the hotel with no one chaperoning. Kids were running up.and down the hallways after midnight yelling as load as they could. No way to sleep. After a long day on the road we needed rest. On top of that, the TV barely worked. Stations cut in and out and locked up. Overall a bad experience.

My family loved the outside area & the customer service. Our room was very nice and clean! We will be staying here again!

Rising earlier than the rest of my family, I went to the hotel’s common area close to 5 AM, where I saw that someone had vomited near the front door of the hotel, beside the dining area. I told the front desk person, and they did nothing for over an hour, even though they had already learned of the throw up and had put “wet floor” caution markers beside the vomit. After about an hour and a half that staff member relented to spray the vomit and smear a towel around on it, leaving the towels there on the floor. Again, all of this was in an open area next to where the breakfast tables are. I finally told the second desk attendant after two hours when the shift changed, but that person did not do anything about it either, and when we return to the hotel that evening, residue of the vomit was still there, into the next day. Apparently, there is no cleaning of the common areas that takes place regularly, or it would have been mopped up. In addition, all desk staff that we interacted with did not smile and were not friendly. One of them was watching videos with the volume up loud, not even looking up, as we walked past her at night and again the next morning. (In contrast, the person who sat out the breakfast was very competent and nice.) Our room was clean, but several things needed repair. Overall, we were definitely not impressed with this property or its management.

We stayed at the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham University Area Chapel Hill when we brought our child to Duke for freshman move-in day. The hotel is about 10 minutes from Duke East Campus, 10 minutes from a huge Target, and 5-10 minutes from an array of restaurants and stores. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, and the rates ate very reasonable. There is free breakfast (waffles, scrambled eggs and sausage, etc.) every morning in the lobby. The pool is an indoor pool, and is very clean. We would definitely stay here again.
