La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Minneapolis-Minnetonka

For a family of four, its great to use as a home base and drive to mall of america/shopping. Two rooms booked, 3 of us took turns getting food poisoning shortly after eating eggs/sausage from the breakfast, didnt eat the breakfast after that. One room was missing a blackout curtain and a screen for the window. Bed was comfy, pull out soda for the kids was rough. Other room had no issues.

We stayed here for 5 days as a family of four. We were really only there to sleep all these days, but the staff was friendly, breakfast was hot and fresh, the room was decent sized, and I would stay there again.

It was terrible. The lady in front desk was rude. We got there at 11 AM and refused to give us a room. She said ALL the rooms were dirty. So my daughters and I had to wait in car until 3 pm to check in. My daughters were cold and it was raining a lot. After checking in, we seen a spider and asked to be moved to another room. After settling In the second room, we saw another spider. In the morning we decided to take our business elsewhere. We told front desk manager about the spiders and she said that’s part of nature. I agree but there shouldn’t be spiders inside hotels. It was horrible. I will NEVER stay here again and I don’t RECOMMEND this hotel to none of my family and friends.

The property was close to our families homes.

Where do I start? To be honest, the staff was the only good thing about this property. It seems they are remodeling the property. I saw a large trailer with about 20-30 box springs all over the ground in front of it. Another trailer had old desks and night stands around it. This was alongside side of the hotel found towards the rear parking lot. The carpet in the hotel was stripped seems like it was in the process of being replaced. All this was acceptable because of the remodel process. What was not acceptable was is what I am about to explain next. We arrived around 10:30-11pm as my kids settled for bed after laying on top of the blankets for awhile they attempted to get under the covers. The bottoms sheet had crumbs of food on it. Which tells me it was not changed. Then the most nastiest of all there were large blood stains on the fitted sheet. When I told staff they asked if I wanted to change rooms, it was around 1am so I decided to just change the sheets. The sink in the bathroom was clogged, the bathroom. It was not a good experience. Once again staff was awesome. Breakfast was not healthy choices can’t complain it is free. I did not indulge in it. I will not be returning. It was a last minute decision because I had electrical issues at home for the night until a tech could come in the next morning.

The floor (carpet) in our room was sticky, to the point we had to wear shoes the whole time and with two young kids it made it hard to function in the room when we basically were stuck just in our bed. I told the front desk and they just said oh, you should tell housekeeping.

The staff were pleasant and room was clean. We were looking for an affordable room to stay in the night before a family member's surgery nearby, and this was perfect for our needs. We left before breakfast, but noticed there is a waffle maker. We didn't see a vending machine onsite, so you may want to bring your own snacks. We would stay again.

First impression pulling up to the building was a room filled with mattresses which was weird. The clientele seemed to live at the property and were under the influence of something the majority of the time as they wandered about. A very unfriendly environment for visiting friends and family.

When pulling up to this property I actually paused briefly drove off and came back because there was a large presence of suspicious activity all around the hotel. I decided to try to drive up to the entrance and could not get to it. So many people were blocking it and and cars were everywhere. The strong smell of weed and cigarettes filled my car. People were sitting in their cars all over the lot. I decided to park and check in. My son and I walked through heavy weed and cigarettes smoke to get to the front door again many people driving in and out of the lot. Very suspicious. Checking in the lobby was filled with people. No one was really checking in. It was loud and obnoxious. We did check in and checked out the room which was older but decently clean. None of these people were in the halls. We left to eat and came back and it was much worse on our return. I was tempted to ask for my money back, but looking at other rooms in the area I was stuck. When we walked in the the lady at the desk yelled at us and said if ya can’t get to the elevator let me know! Luckily it was just me and my oldest son. I would never have taken my family into that hotel. Still do not know what was going on. Once in our room we locked the door and did not leave until check out. It was a very uncomfortable feeling.

My mom ended up getting sick because of the carpet wasn’t dry from prior cleaning the carpet was damp and smelled like mildue. They tried moving use to another room but that room smelled even worse. We had alot going on this family trip we couldn't never get a hold of the management no calls either.. Extremely disappointing experience still waiting to hear from someone.
