Hampton Inn Traverse City

Checkin was at 4, the room wasn’t ready until almost 5. The air conditioning unit kept turning off waking us up all night because of how hot it was getting. Our room was by the pool so we were also getting woken up early with kids slamming the door going in and out. The ice machine was not working while we were there. The location isn’t downtown but right across from the beach which was nice. The staff was friendly!

We stayed two nights as a family of four (two teens). The building is clean, good breakfast and very nice staff. Our stay was quiet and parking was easy and convenient. However, the rooms are small, a double room has two FULL beds (not QUEEN beds). The bathroom has a double sliding barn door style doors that offer absolutely no privacy.

The hotel was not in as nice of condition as it seems in the pictures, but overall was pretty nice. The hot tub is permanently closed. The rooms look a lot bigger in the pictures than they truly are. But the most bizarre part was that the bathroom doors are sliding style, that close together in the middle. So there's always a gap in the middle of the door that people can see through, and there's no privacy for sound whatsoever in the bathroom. Very strange design that we didn't care for, even as a couple. I couldn't imagine traveling with kids and not being able to keep your privacy in the bathroom. The sliding style is shown in one of the pictures on the site. We didn't eat the breakfast, so can't comment to that. There was a round the clock coffee bar in the lounge. Location is good, but not on the water and the only view of the water is standing out front of the hotel. Do not overpay for this hotel- it is truly nothing special.

Very nice place. Quality staff. Only negative- I booked through Expedia (non-refundable) selected that I needed pet friendly hotel. Hilton popped up. Got to the hotel and was informes of an additional 75$ charge for pets!! I think thats outrageous. I wish those kind of things were disclaimed when booking. Good place to stay for non-fur families.

We reserved our room because it said it will sleep 6 and i have 5 im my family. When we walked into the room it was 2 double beds and was small! It barley slept 4 comfortably let alone no more! When reading the description on the room it sounds like it had way more room when in fact it didnt. The hot tub was being remodel (which we was fine) but the pool was freezing! It was one of the worst stays we ever experienced. Not planning in coming back no time soon.

Parents beware...the hotel only has one crib/pack and play. The hotel staff was dismissive of my concern about the lack of cribs in a family friendly town stating "I have been here 20 years and this is the way it is". Elevator was broken, hotel was drafty and the bathroom has double sliding doors that do not close properly. I could not have been more disappointed with Hampton.
