Tru By Hilton Gaylord, MI

I reserved a handicap room and ended up way down a hallway, not a handicap room, and there was no chair in the shower. I battle with MS and it affects my legs, so walking and standing is extremely difficult for me. They did switch us to a handicap room, which the wall paper was peeling off in the bathroom, the grout was falling out of the bathroom floor, and there was no toilet paper holder on the wall. You could see the screw holes where it used to be. I also discovered a q-tip and and 2 toothpicks under the desk. I didn't look to see if they were used before picking them up with toilet paper. There should be an option for a thermos or something to take to your room for coffee. If you have people like me, I can't be walking down every hour or so to get one...it's not feasible. No microwave in the rooms was unfortunate, but I get it. We wanted to play pool but was told we weren't able to because the weekend before, a group of kids ate (yes, ate!) the chalk for the pool sticks, so we had to wait until they got more chalk. We came down later that evening to go for dinner and noticed a group of kids playing pool, without chalk...hmmm.

We love staying at the Tru when we come up to Gaylord to ski. Has a great gathering area in the lobby with TVs, games, pool table and lost of after hours snack options to purchase. Our family had a great time. Its so close to everything as well and cant bewt the price.

Property was overbooked so when I arrived at 10:30pm I was told that there was not a room available for my family. Horrible customer service. Will not be staying at Hilton again.

Staff was friendly and courteous. As a Diamond member this is the first time we'd stayed at a Tru-hotel from Hilton. When they say minimal, they mean it. The room was comfortable, though small, bed frame was squeaky had to wedge a towel around it. Glass shelfs in shower not secured. Hit it with my elbow and luckily caught it before it hit the tile. That could have caused quite the accident, with children it presents a problem. Toaster did not work, orange juice and apple juice machine empty or broken. Found it odd they had a open gallon of milk for cereal vs individual cartons, not very sanitary. For the price i saw little value and would not stay at a TRU again.

The Tru Hotel is different than any other hotel chain property. Geared toward younger travelers as well as families. The lobby was colorful, large, and bustling with families playing cards, playing pool, hanging out. My hope was that there was a quiet time later. Our room was beautifully decorated, but the a/c unit was not working right and recycled frequently, which kept us awake. When we mentioned it while checking out, the young lady made a note of it, but did not apologize for the problem. This is the primary reason for not giving the hotel a higher rating.

very noisy all night. kids on top floor running and screaming late into the night. Horrible breakfast not even a banana available. Had to ask the woman taking care for multiple items that were out and she wore the same gloves for cleanup and serving. never changed them

We did not stay at this hotel as there have no reversed a room to my family when I arrived to check in. The staff told us due to some of staff have double booking and there have not addition to us. Also, they told us they promise us to full refund the hotel fee. But I did not heard from hotel or orbitz any new regarding to refund.

Nice stay, except for noisy kids playing at pool table. The pool table could could go. Always had little kids being loud. Ugh.
