Comfort Inn & Suites Chestertown

If I can I will share photos. I question if our 2 queen bed “suite” was cleaned before we were checked in at 7:30pm. There was some type of spill stain on the floor of the bathroom's which easily came up when I wiped it with moist paper. What looks like black mold in the seam of the tub & something on the floor of the tub/shower. Looked like black streaks. There was a stain on the carpet near the bed, not sure if carpet was vacuumed before we came in. Overall the place smelled bad, (reception & stairwell) - room smelled bad! I wonder if they train cleaners AT ALL!! We stayed ONE NIGHT and In was concerned bit my family told me to just “deal with it” cause it was only one night. Our stay was JUST GROSS, but there is no completion there so I guess they can cut corners. OH - The advertised pool WAS CLOSED on Memorial Day weekend, the start of summer. We were so disappointed. The staff said it was because they were “waiting to be cleared by health department” yeah, here’s a tip owners - start that process in MARCH so you’re ready for summer opening weekend! I completely over spent for this hotel, not as advertised and DIRTY/GROSS!! Bring cleaning supplies everyone OR check in early and MAKE THEM CLEAN YOUR ROOM while you stand there and watch. Ugh… GOOD LUCK!

1. Everything I need in the same place. Security and comfort for me and my family.

Staff was very friendly n helpful. I like the fact that coffee was served all day. I thought breakfast should have been served a little later. Unfortunately we didn’t have breakfast daily, kids didn’t get up

There was a large garbage bag of surety linens with a dirtier protective mattress pad in front of our room for 3 hours even after front desk was notified. It’s gross. We did not have enough linens ourselves for the pull out couch and front desk was non-responsive. Storage area was open so I grabbed an extra blanket for my child myself. Storage room was total mess and unsanitary.

Our greeter at arrival made us feel we were bothering him at check in. Asked about where the pool was- in advance I asked about the pool for my child- was told they have an outdoor one. At check-in, the greeter said the pool has not been open in over a year! Would have been good to know when I asked!! Many workers there propped doors open, and we’re smoking around all entrances of the building. The fact that the pool was boarded up with plywood also may have been a fire hazard. A lot of workers in the hotel parking lot who did not work for the hotel, just hanging out there, did not feel safe. The best person was the morning kitchen/breakfast staff, she was helpful and made sure everything was out and full.

3 families in town for a funeral. At breakfast the morning of checkout someone said "I haven't found anything about this hotel that I don't like." We all agreed. They have the friendliest staff I have encountered in a long, long time. Will definitely stay here again.
