DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Lawrence

We were in town visiting friends and family. Overall our stay was excellent! My elderly mother and I shared a first floor accessible room with 2 queen beds, which was just what we wanted. The room had most everything we needed; however, there were a few things I’d like to relay to perhaps make the next guests more comfortable. There was a coffee pot available that we couldn’t use because of non-working outlets. My mother had 3 essential electrical devices that required charging in addition to my cell phone; again no easily accessible working outlets except in the bathroom. There were a total of 6 that weren’t usable. No hooks or towel bars in the bathroom, except the assist bar next to the toilet. The bathtub was very slippery and dangerous to an older person who is already unsteady on her feet. I ended up purchasing a non-slip bathtub mat and a couple of Command hooks to use during our stay. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to others visiting the Lawrence area.

We got in very late and the staff was so kind and accommodating. We had access to additional towels and blankets and a crib for our baby.

Pool area great for kids

Very nice hotel. My husband and grandchildren loved the warm cookies that were available at the front desk We will stay again in the future.

Make sure there isn’t a football tournament going on. This was the worst experience for my family and I. Kids were destroying hotel property and running around with no supervision. We couldn’t swim or use the hot tub because it was so crowded.

A bit old and run down but slept like a baby

The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The room itself was an accessible room, so it was a little weird. It was tight so I’m not even sure a wheelchair could move around freely. There was one desk chair, so no real place to sit and relax. The bathroom had no counter space, no drawers, no hooks on the walls or door, so there was no place to put anything. The shower is just a tub, and there was no rubber mat until we stopped at the front desk to ask for one. They have a restaurant/bar that was really nice, but it was only open for breakfast or dinner. Hotel bars should be open all the time so people have a place to sit and visit. We had family in town for a wedding and this was not a place we could gather and be together.

Could not have had a better family reunion/birthday for my dad!! From the front desk, the house maintenance staff, everyone in the restaurant who went out of their way to help with the cakes and ensured all our guests were taken care of!! Priceless!!!

We had a family next to us that screamed and were so loud all night. I called twice to the front desk and pleaded they take care of it as I had two young children with me and one had to play softball the next day. We barely slept at all. They never got quiet. At 5:00am slamming doors and talking as loud as they could. I was disappointed that I paid so much for a room and barely slept. I was hoping after two complaints it would be taken care of but it was not.

We stay at this hotel on a regular basis when we visit our grandchildren. So the swimming pool and hot tub are VERY important. Imagine our dismay when we check in and find no water in the pool or hot tub. And that lasted until we checked out 3 days later. They should have advised us when we made reservations, we could have stayed at the HI Express.
