SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Auburn

We have been to this hotel several times in the past when it was the Auburn Inn and a lovely hotel. As the years have gone by and owners/managers have changed this hotel has gone downhill. It is worn out and no one seems to care. The past manager Peter Patel just let the place go. It seems the current owners Sure Stay aren't doing much with it either. The sheets and blankets were so old and worn out. I had to ask for another blanket as it was ripped up really bad. I wonder why that would not be thrown out. The window screen was ripped and the draperies on that window were filthy and old. It seems as if this hotel has changed to a construction worker accommodation. They used to have a lovely suite available that now houses a family full time. It was a shame to see how bad this place has gotten. Goodbye old friend. We won't be back.

This is indeed a unique hotel: very retro. The lobby is nice and the hallways look ok and well kept. It is off the highway and near many convenient places (there's a Walmart, an Aldi and a few restaurants). The room has a fridge and a microwave, which is VERY important for us, since we travel with a little kid. The breakfast is included and has a lot of options. The rooms need more TLC. Inside our room: the towel handle in the bathroom was torn off the wall, and lying under the sink. Even though the rooms are non-smoking, our room reeked! The beds were neatly made and all, but there were visible worn out spots on the sheets. Our window didn't have a screen, so we decided not to open it (to avoid bugs), but it meant being stuck with the smoke smell. Outside, the parking lot (toward the back of the hotel), has some gnarly potholes... it had rained, they were full of water and it was a bit scary to have to drive over them. In conlcusion: 1. we had a quiet night. 2. we were safe. 3. we were fed a good breakfast. 4. the hotel is an interesting place. 5. the hotel needs A LOT of maintenance.
