Riverbank Lodge

My mother and I shared a King Suite as all of the Queen rooms were booked, the king sized bed had plenty of space for both of us and was super comfortable, not too soft, not too firm. Our room had an amazing river view, we enjoyed watching the wild life that visited the water, it felt like staying in a cabin in the woods. We were grateful to have a refrigerator to store our leftover pizza from the kitchen, it was super good and would highly recommend it. We were surprised how many people came to eat at the Lodge but were not actually staying there. Many local people came and went, greeting each other, saying hello and see ya later, love ya, etc. The staff of all ages were very hospitable and eager to help anyone in need. The place has an overall cozy feeling, and as if you are part of the family.

So I grew up in the town and when I was a kid it was one of four banks. When I say four banks, really there was only one, just four different locations all on the same road and two were a little more than 250 ft apart and all within half a mile. I don’t get it either. Well, the view from the hotel room with hot tub in it, must have been the president of the banks office. It has the most wonderful view (Don’t expect Northern Lights or the Eiffel Tower people, it is Central Illinois.). At any moment you could expect to see a deer, an eagle or heck, maybe even Bigfoot drink from the river. It was pretty darn cool. My one complaint was the hot water didn’t last long enough to really fill up the jetted tub and well, I didn’t see Bigfoot. I did get laid in the bank president’s office though, and that was awesome.

The hotel was really nicely done. It felt extremely homey and the staff at the desk and the bar were extremely friendly and informative. Very family at home type atmosphere. Would highly recommend. The pizza at the bar is fantastic as well.

Staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Lobby is quaint and welcoming. The room we had was perfect for 2 adults and 3 kids - 2 queen beds and a rollaway, a couple of comfy chairs, desk, fireplace, and big T.V. The only negatives I can think of: not enough counter space in the bathroom; didn't see any temperature control in the room, but the temp was comfortable enough for us. Food in the bar area was excellent! Would recommend Riverbank Lodge to anyone needing to stay in the area.

I have relatives that live in Petersburg that I visit every year. Before the Riverbank Lodge was available, my family had to stay in Springfield. While Springfield has a variety of hotels to choose from, we'd much rather stay a few minutes from our relatives and at a place that is very nice. I especially appreciate that breakfast is served in the morning. The only suggestion that I'd have is to add a small workout room. The Riverbank is a welcome addition to the community and I hope that it stays there for many years to come!
