Good: the pool was good for the kids (7-12 y.o.). Not so good: I woke up at 3am because a bright light would turn on periodically outside. As our room was on the side next to I-57, traffic noise could be heard throughout the night, though the white noise of the AC helped drown it out.

The clerk was great and most of the room was good. The beds were far to firm though. To the point of discomfort. Also, kids can swim till 11pm before it goes to adults only. It was loaded with kids and I had to wait 2 hours to get to use the hot tub. I would suggest a 10pm cut off for kids.

It was an okay place to spend the night. The kids had fun in the pool. The hot tub was not very hot. Only a few of the jets had hot water coming out of them. The air conditioner seemed to start a lot and was quite loud during the night. With the exception of the orange juice machine being out of order, the breakfast was awesome and the breakfast area was nice and clean.

Excellent stay. Clean comfortable rooms. Very cool.this is the oldest hotel in Texas. Really hope this hotel keeps going for generations to come! Very nice yard type area kids can run around in. Also plenty of sitting chairs to relax. We would defintely stay again.

Lots of families with kids. Pool got lots of use. Breakfast a little light. Comfortable, clean room. Laundry services available and inexpensive by comparison to other hotels.

My mom and I stopped on the way home from moving my sister & her family to Dallas. Mom wanted to prolong. St Louis was too expensive so we tried Effingham and this hotel was great. From being welcomed to getting Breakfast and the pool is in excellent shape. Will stay again

My overnight stay at Country Inns and Suites in Effingham IL was very pleasant. My family took advantage of the library lending program. Rooms were comfortable and hot tub and pool were nice. Would reccomend for any business or pleasure stay.

This was a GREAT place to stay. My family and I were just finishing a long journey back from Florida and were just wanted to get home, this was about as close as we could get. The whole hotel felt like home, there were fresh baked cookies available all of the time in the main lobby and the rooms were very nice. I would most definitely stay here again and I would recommend it to all of my friends. Before leaving for our next trip we will be checking to see where other's from this chain are located.
