Our favorite boutique hotel on Maui. We love resorting but our vacations are a special time to bring our family together, and The Mauian has earned the label Our favorite destnation getaway on our favorite Hawaiian island, Maui.
We have found we are not alone, many guests we spoke with are returning guests, reuniting generations of their families.
The location is excellent, waterfront to Napili Bay, the rooms are clean, our family is safe, and the sunsets can't be beat. Our recent 7 day getaway was the best yet, perfect snorkeling with Eagle rays, turtles, eels, and every kind of tropical fish you can imagine. Buy foaties on your way in, bring your go-pro explore this beautiful bay.
Try local restaurants and cafes, you'll be pleasantly surprised, Sea House restaurant has an excellent breakfast, and wonderful Macadamia nut crusted Mahi Mahi, with specials every night. Kaanapali is just a short drive away for shopping and restaurants, Duke's restaurant at sunset is a must when you visit Maui. Cooking in, poolside barbecues are available, pool feels 80 degrees and is spotless.
Most of all my favorite feel at the Mauian is the meticulously maintained landscape. I'm drawn back to this property year after year for many reasons, the pride they have for their landscape is one of them.
If you want to enjoy the Hawaiian vibe, beautiful sunsets, lush lanscape, friendly people, be close to new adventures, give the Mauin a try, they won't dissapoint.

Don't have enough good things to say about the Mauian!
My family and I stayed there in July of 2024. The rooms have a 1950s bungalow feel - not "dated", definitely a decor choice. Each room has a small lanai, and robes for the adults. Be aware: there's no TV in the room, but it's Hawaii so if you're sitting in the room, shame on you! Juice and coffee in the morning, drinks and music in the evening. Views to dream of, and plumeria trees right outside your door. Most importantly - less than 50 yards from the stunning beach.
The staff was very accommodating of us. We were travelling with a larger group and our plans changed last minute, forcing us to leave the Mauian before our scheduled checkout. They graciously offered to release us from the remainder of our stay, with no argument.
If you're looking for a classic Hawaii experience - laid back, beach, snorkeling, SUP, etc. this is the place. We'll be returning on our next trip!

Beautiful cozy hotel. Perfect for a family getaway. Security guard Don really made our stay. He was very patient with my kid’s questions and was always ready to help with any issues. My kid looked forward to when he would come in for his shift so they could converse about cats.

I love this family owned hotel. The location is the best on my favorite beach Napili bay. Super clean, comfortable beds, steps from the beach, perfect spot to get your real Hawaiian feels on! ❤️

an amazing space with freindly staff. building do have old school thin walls so noisy at times, lots of kids and families. This is expected for an old school Hawaiian hotel. Overall great spot.

Great for anyone who wants to be beach front at one of the most beautiful beaches in Maui, Napili Bay. It's not your big (pricey) resort experience. There is a basic pool, but it was perfect for our little family. Not many other guests at the pool so it was perfect. Convenient beach access. Rooms and property very clean. Security always present. Clean bbq grills to utilize. Our lanai looked out over the pool and had ocean views. Room was pretty standard but very cozy. Bathroom and shower was very roomy and upscaled from the average hotel bathroom and shower. Pictures on Expedia were confusing, I thought I was getting a kitchen that had a stove top and full refrigerator with more room, but we ended up with a mini fridge and microwave in a very small "kitchen" space. Definitely would not consider that a kitchenette at all. That was my only disappointment. Lucky for us we were only staycation-ing for just one night so it didn't have much impact on our experience. Had we been staying for a week and planned on utilizing a kitchen, it definitely would have been much more upsetting. I would stay here again!

We stayed at The Mauian for only 1 night as we had reservations in Wailea for the next 3 nights. We loved The Mauian's location -- right on a crescent beach/cove, within 10 minutes to Whalers' Village, 15-20 mins to Lahaina, and next to the Coastal trail. The grounds are attractively maintained with lots of tropical plants, a nice pool area, and an open grassy lawn for kids to play. The rooms are clean but a bit dated; the bathrooms are nicely appointed. From the website pictures, I knew that some rooms have carpet while others have tile. I absolutely hate carpet, but I knew the chances of getting a carpeted room. If we ever come back to Maui again, The Mauian will definitely be on our list! I would love to return with my grandchildren some day!

Beautiful gardens and nice rooms but they did not provide two beds as requested for our family of 4. The pullout couch was a single bed and their option for the 4th person was a weird foldable sofa mattress directly on the floor. Walls were paper thin so were woken up at 5:30 both mornings because the kids in the next room were up and talking loudly.

Likes - the property landscaping; units were spacious and each had there own balcony/patio areas, the showers in the bathrooms, right on the beach
Dislikes - the immediate area caters mostly to families and retirees.
