This property is in a prime location on Kaanapali Beach between the Sheraton/Black Rock and Whaler’s Village. It is an average, 3-star hotel with a tiny pool and maid service that doesn’t necessarily make up your room every day. You get what you pay for accommodation-wise, but it’s a perfect location on the beach with convenient access to ABC Store to grab food/necessities and swimming/snorkeling location on the beach. Normally, we stay at the Sheraton, but this year I brought my kids myself and thought I’d save money by staying here. The Sheraton (and Hyatt) are much nicer and more expensive - 4-star resorts with more amenities offered. My biggest frustration was that the Outrigger does not offer a shower room for people who have late-night flights. This is standard at properties like Hyatt, Sheraton, or Four Seasons because people always spend the day at the beach if they have late- night flights and must check out of their rooms. I recommend staying here if you are on a tighter budget, don’t care about having a resort-style pool, grounds, or housekeeping services, and just want a hotel room with a mini-fridge to stay right on the beach.

This was a perfect place for our family. The grounds and accommodations were very nice and the courtyard and walk to the beach was beautiful! The staff were kind and willing to make sure your stay was wonderful. I highly recommend the Outrigger for your stay too!

Overall is good, and can be excellent if : 1. Parking can be made complimentary. Afterall, the location of the hotel is not Times Square, and lands are ample 2. There is no baby cockroach, which we found in the bathroom

I can't recommend this hotel due to multiple issues. The main attraction, the beach, is a disappointment. With 470 rooms, they offer a mere seven beach umbrellas for rent and limited loungers and equipment. Guests are forced to spend time under the harsh Hawaiian sun. Even if you secure an umbrella, they relegate you to the furthest part of the beach from the ocean, which is challenging if you have kids. Anything rented must be watched all day; step away for an hour, and they remove your items. Moreover, their Expedia page is misleading, stating a surcharge applies only to cabanas, when in fact, all accessories have a fee. The only free items are beach towels and Cultural Center sessions. The hotel isn't child-friendly either. Their medium-sized pool lacks a separate kids' area, and without a lifeguard, constant vigilance is required. Overall, this place feels cheap and greedy.

We liked the gardens and pool area, its proximity to the beach and Whalers Village. Unfortunately we stayed in room 326 in the 'Traditional' block. Traditional actually means old and tired. Our room had a door to an adjoining room and we could hear everything that was going on with the young family staying in the room next door. The bathroom was very old, the shower stall door didn't close properly. For some reason the hotel did not service our room on the last day of our stay despite us not putting anything on the door - they must have forgotten. The rooms do not have a full service each day apparently this is to conserve water. Sheets are changed every 3 days so on that day you receive a full service, on day 2 they make the bed, replenish towels, empty bins and on the 3rd day they are supposed to just empty bins and refresh towels.

Nice property, great location, friendly staff. Overrun with children during spring break. Comfortable rooms but very, very tired and overdue for major upgrades.

Our stay was amazing. The staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel grounds were beautiful and the beach was the perfect spot for the family. Restaurants had really good food although pricey. We saw whales right off the beach. Another great perk was the parking garage which is on your room level and the beach path that leaded to stores and other restaurant options.
