Great area. Great for families. Great for locations. The food at the Crooked Surf could be a tad better.

Our family stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Poipu for half our vacation and the other half at the Sheraton in Coconut Beach. Overall we preferred the Sheraton. At the Sheraton we had bigger and newer rooms, with a much better ocean view, at half the price. Sure, the grounds at the Grand Hyatt are nicer, and there are more pools, a slide, and a "lazy river". But the place is just too big. It takes too long to get to your room, the pools, your car. Making it less relaxing and more of a planned chore. The Sheraton felt more "intimate" and relaxed. The ocean is way closer to the rooms, so you get the nice breezes and sound of the waves. They don't charge you for every little thing the Grand Hyatt does. The food was better. Lastly, there was a notable difference in the staff. Except the person who checked us in, almost every other staff member we ran into at the Grand Hyatt seemed unhappy to be working there. At the Sheraton, they all seemed to be working together like a family. Laughing and enjoying their job, which was confirmed by the multiple ones we asked. Our server, Kaisha, at The Crooked Surf was excellent.

We stayed with our toddler and loved it! Great pool, restaurant options, view of the water, and very relaxed vibe. They even hosted an Easter egg hunt for the kids on Easter! Rooms were clean and comfortable and there’s free parking. They also had an abundance of lawn games, fire pits and hammocks, making it easy to hang out and chill at the resort after a busy day.

Not a well maintained property, very short staffed.
The GM actually asked a Dad and his children on Easter morning to get out of the pool bc it was 8:30 am and not 9am, it was Easter and asked everyone to get out of the pool. All parents were around it truly was sad.
I saw him the previous day, it’s truly a man with a clipboard with minor authority recking havoc on guests.
I would never stay here again!

Amazing week long stay! Top 4th floor rooms have vaulted ceilings, was nice. Loved the lawn games and the pool was warm and relaxing. Not too many kids or noise, fun relaxed vibe. Staff was great. Morgan and the rest of the staff at the pool bar were all awesome. Drinks are expensive though and not strong. There is the coconut market in walking distance and we’d get canned drinks and keep them in our fridge. The beach is knee deep wading, after that there is a rock shelf. Walking down the beach you can walk to Lava Lava and eat on the beachside, and there are a couple good swimming/open no rocks beaches that direction. We had an amazing time in Kauai, did the mountain tubing and the kayak to the falls. We had so much fun! Our stay was perfect (expensive- we checked out with a $1k bill- the coffees and lunches $40/day resort fee add up fast. The coffee bar is yummy and I will forever crave Almond Joy lattes!!! And $15 smoothies- not kidding. Prepare to spend more than you think on this trip when you’re there in person! Oh, and Uber from the airport is not easy! They were charging $175 (!) for Ubers due to high demand. Everyone lands all at once and they don’t have enough drivers. Call a cab in advance. Eventually we were able to get a taxi driver to take us to the hotel cash $40 tip. At the hotel they have bikes you can borrow which was a nice way to get around to the markets/Kapaa.
I ramble. In short, Kauai is incredibly beautiful and our stay at the Sheraton was 10/10.

Nice relaxing atmosphere, there is so much open space for everyone to enjoy. There is a games area which can be enjoyed by children and adults. Walking distance to local Coconut Grove Marketplace where there is a good selection of places to eat.

Stayed at Sheraton Cocoa Beach over the 4th of July Holiday and had a wonderful time with the family.
The staff was super friendly and helpful. Food was pretty good at the hotel, plus there were plenty of other places to explore nearby. The pool was GREAT and the rooms were clean & spacious... AND, our Ocean View room was AMAZING! Ask for room 254... it won't disappoint ;)
I would definitely go back... WILL go back!
Thank you to everyone for making our stay pleasant.
