This was the worst hotel experience I've had. Following a long wait at checkin, our room was filthy. We found bits of food on the bedside tables and countertops. A rolled up dollar bill on the floor indicated things hadn't been cleaned! The bedroom was dimly lit and seedy looking. My kids wanted to drive on the through the night rather than sleep here, but we were too tired and stayed. Found a roach in our bathroom in the morning. I reported all of this as we checked out and left a note for the manager, but nobody ever followed up. We paid over $300 plus the resort fee, which was exorbitant! I have stayed in Best Westerns before that were perfectly fine, but this was horrific. Also, though not the hotel's fault, we were unaware from the hotel photos that this is a car beach. On the day we arrived, it was packed with cars - including police patrolling, as they'd apparently had security issues in previous days.

I have had family stay at this hotel many many times through the years. It’s always very nice. This time it was very disappointing. It was clean but the rooms were so musty and mildew smelling. They explain this was from the hurricanes two years ago that blew water in and drywall and carpet got wet. They said they are slowly renovating the rooms, but it takes a while which I do understand. But it was such a strong smelling odor That it was not fun to be inside. They said some rooms were stronger than others, and they could switch us if we needed it but did not say there were rooms that did not smell. The other big disappointment was the fact that there are no longer any dishes or silverware in the kitchen. They said they cannot sanitize it so they took it all out. They have a restaurant on site, so I don’t know how they don’t have a way to clean dishes. But no, where does it say that when you book that there’s no silverware or dishes in the kitchen. It’s a service you expect if there’s a kitchen- basic supplies- and they were there every single time we’ve ever stayed before. I will not be having my family stay here again which is quite a bummer.

To be completely fair, this hotel was closed for six months after a major hurricane and hasn’t completely recovered. My family and I have been coming to this hotel for over two decades and it’s always been wonderful. This visit had more of a “ghost town” feel to it. There seemed to be bare bones staffing, I’m not sure if I even saw housekeeping or security my entire visit. Only one server in the little restaurant. It was weird. My stay was actually much closer to two stars (don’t forget the smell of wet EVERYTHING permeating from the walls) but because the hotel and I go back a long way, I wasn’t going to leave too bad of a star rating. I’m sure they’ll get back on track, hire more staff, change out the wet wood and soggy smelling carpets, etc, but if you’re looking for a “taken-care-of” experience, you might want to sit this hotel out for another year. Oh! They also don’t have beach access currently. You have to walk off property to get to the beach.

I was treated like a criminal asking for 5 towels for the beach!!!!! This manager Dana DOES NOT BELONG BEING IN HOTEL MANAGEMENT!!!! THIS WOMAN IS RUDE, SPITEFUL, NASTY, AND NOT HELPFUL AT ALL WITH ANYTHING!!!! IT WAS THE WORST MOMENT OF MY LIFE TO BE TREATED THAT WAY!!!! IT WAS DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR COMING FROM A MANAGER!!!!!!!!! FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER BEEN TREATED THAT WAY AT A HOTEL OR BY ANYONE!!!!!! IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!I WAS SHAKING FOR HOURS AFTER!!!! I WENT HOME AND HAD A FULL BLOWN PANIC ATTACK IT WAS SO BAD!!!!! I HAD MY 3 CHILDREN WITH ME!!!!!! THIS CRAZY MANAGER DANA CHARGED ME 150 DOLLARS FOR TOWELS I DIDNT EVEN WIND UP USING AND IF I DIDNT PAY THE MONEY FOR THEM SHE WOULD CALL THE COPS AND LOCK ME OUT OF MY ROOM!!!! so i paid for towels i didnt even use 150 dollars!!! Finally got up to my room shaking and she calls the cops anyway away from impotant work im sure to ask a woman who is with her 3 children alone if i will behave until i leave the hotel. People i paid money to be treated this way!!!!! Do not go to this hotel if you dont want to be arrested for using or asking for towels for the beach at a beach hotel!! Website is also NOT CORRECT FOR THIS HOTEL. There is no beach access from there hotel, no room service, no relaxing balcony if you want food there, it has to be before 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Oh and the reason for the no relaxing balcony they have there a/c units right where you sit so IT BLOWS HOT AIR ON YOU AND IS SO LOUD YOU CANT HEAR THE OCEAN

I paid extra for breakfast which was an option when I booked the room. When I got to the hotel, they said they do not have amurhing tjat said that. After dealing with your reservation services, they gave me a 50 coupon. But I still had to pay for my meal even though I was initially under the impression I could use my hotel.com points to have breakfast already taken care of. This was very inconvient to me and my family as I had to take time from spending time with them to deal with this.

Not a family friendly hotel- the drunk people yelling through the halls and trying to enter my room at night kept us up- we didn’t even stay the second night because it was so bad.

The room had a musty smell and damp feeling carpets. In addition the beds were extremely uncomfortable and pillows were non existent. The view was from the room was great but patio furniture was not what would be expected for a room in excess of $300 a night. We had family staying in another hotel near by, and while their room was slightly more expensive, their rooms, amenities, service and cleanliness were far above the price difference. Besides the convenient location to the beach and shopping, there was no wow factor at this Best western. Overall, I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend someone else to.
