Look, this is an endearing place but know what you are getting into. It is a family retreat center hosting large groups. It is not a “come in and stay for a night” place. We picked it bc of the beauty and the wide open spaces, and the kids activities on our way to Wyoming. And we enjoyed some of the many activities for sure. That being said, check in is not until 6, there is no AC, there is zero amenity to the rooms. It is literally a conference center lodge and volunteer staff “changes the linens” to get the room ready. It’s not much. While I fully support this place fostering connections and creating great experiences, it is a huge mismatch for them to sell their excess inventory on Hotels.com. We were totally unsatisfied for our needs, which aren’t much. Just a place to check into by 3pm, a dark room with actual curtains, and a comfortable bed. For $180, this was not a deal. Go stay in Winter Park or Fraser if you are passing through.

We stay here often, but this is the first time in summer. Staff is always friendly and helpful. I left my purse in my room after checkout, and a very nice young lady in housekeeping, who spoke mostly Spanish, saw me coming back and ran it to me. I was so thankful for her honesty and happiness at returning it. I wish I knew her name. We were in Indian Peaks. The lady at the store was also cheerful and helpful in finding items I needed. Reception staff was always helpful. One exception was a man who told us we couldn't get more coffee for our room - when it's out, it's out. Since there isn't daily housekeeping, we ran out at the beginning of the week, and there aren't tons of options near the YMCA. That was our only complaint with service. He wasn't friendly about it, either. The view from the balcony is beautiful, there's lots of mountain biking, hiking on campus as well as nearby in Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park, not to mention, Berthoud Pass. Dining in Fraser or Granby is your best option for food. I also like that dogs are allowed in the rooms, even though we don't have any. They're part of the family.

We were a little caught off guard by the YMCA complex- didn’t know it was a whole town full of activities aimed at mostly kids which is great. That being said- we came to sleep. Our room was outdated from the 1980’s with old colors, furniture. The room was mostly clean but not what I expect when you pay $200 a night. No AC or heater but a dirty fan was in the room. The windows opened up wide but one of the screens was torn. The doors were super creaky and squeaky in the room and outside the room. You could hear all conversations of people in the hallway and we were on the end right next to the squeaky banging doors that kept us up all night. The shower was good- nothing fancy but had hot water and good pressure. The towels were nice.

Our family enjoyed our stay. Although we were there for 1 night we were happy with the cleanliness of our room and location. I would definitely recommend staying there and not plan on doing so again. The view was beautiful!

We had a wonderful time, plenty for the kids to do. The room was very simple. The staff was friendly wherever we went.

We have stayed in the lodge several times for a weekend to ski Winter Park. It is economical and comfortable, and the staff is great. Things to be aware of: the only dining room typically open is the cafeteria, and it closes at 7:30pm. There are ALWAYS unattended children running up and down the hallways and stairs, probably screaming. Once some twerps thought it was funny to knock on our door and run. Bring earplugs for sleep. The pool has been closed all winter, no hot tubs.

It’s a very reasonable price compared to all the other lodging near winter park and Rocky Mountain National Park. It’s basic service compared to fancier lodging. So if you need a TV and other options in the same building it may not work for you. For families in need of a reasonable price place it’s just right.
