Holiday Inn Golden Gateway, an IHG Hotel

Had two rooms for a family vacation - they were extremely clean and comfortable and I enjoyed the Dove products Holiday Inn carries. This was the first time in years that I stayed at a Holiday Inn and it was great! The price and location could also not be beat!

It was a wonderful day me and my family enjoyed the comfort and flexibility of the rooms. The staff are very friendly and very courteous. I have a good time every time I visit this hotel. The only thing that bothers me about this trip is along with taking a vacation with my family. We wanted to go see the Yankee game. They were playing the Giants. And we couldn’t make it to Saturday’s game so we decided to stay in and watch on TV but it was blacked out in the Hotel room, but they had it downstairs where you could watch if you ate in the restaurant and paid for food. I don’t appreciate that. You’re forcing me to have to pay to enjoy a game which it should be free because I’m in the city where the game is based. Come to find out from Manager. They do that on purpose that makes you have to come downstairs or go to a bar to watch the game, you would think you would get local Channels for a game is being held no more than seven blocks from where you’re staying. Otherwise, the hotel is always clean and nice. Would recommend it except if you’re watching a baseball game or any other sporting event in your room.

Central to many sightseeing opportunities. As we were in town for a wedding, we really appreciated the multiple sitting areas in various locations; we gathered in a few of them with family and after arriving, visited the dining room for appetizers and drinks. I also took advantage of the business center where I revised and printed my speech for the wedding.

First - shout out to manager Gino for making sure my family’s two rooms were actually connecting! He was super helpful and went out of his way. Hotel is good central location and safe feeling NH close to eating options on Polk St (try Bob’s donuts!) and pacific heights with a Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s close too. It’s at the terminus of the less crowded cable car line to Embarcadero so easy to do that tourist thing. Fast elevators, comfy beds, and daily housekeeping was thorough. Our rooms were on the sixth floor with sliders to the pool - which some people may not like (fishbowl vibes) but convenient for our kids to swim in the heated pool while we could watch them from our rooms.

Hotel was clean, room service changed our towels everyday, and the location is quite central for San Francisco. They had a microwave room and water dispenser for cold and hot water, which saved us from having to buy water everyday! There were 6 elevators but we noticed only one or two elevators at most were being used. This meant stopping at every floor sometimes and the elevator would get very crowded/take long to get to your room especially if you’re in the higher floors. The walls are also very thin as we woke up at 3am one night to a couple fighting in the room next to us. You can also hear everything in the halls, like kids running around and slamming the doors.

Check in was easy and quick, i had to change my room type to accomodate unexpectedly bringing a child, no problem! Several bellmen/porters in the lobby and a concierge. So friendly and helpful with help and info. Smiles all around! Room clean and comfortable, very nice. And what a view of the city lights from the 21st floor! Parking was easy and cost less than i anticipated at $40. Street car stops right at the hotel and goes all the way to the terminal building, with a stop right in the middle of chinatown. I couldn't have been more pleased with this hotel choice. Ill be back.

We really enjoyed our stay,room was very clean and spacious, amazing hotel staff, good food choices for dine in and out, had all the facilities like laundry machines and their restaurant dinning was quite reasonable and kids eat free when you buy adult meal although choices were limited,their cafe latte was pretty good and location is excellent it’s very close to all the attractions in downtown, Golden Gate Bridge.

The check in and everything leading up to our first night was great. Friendly front desk, gave us our room key and off we went. We didn't make any special requests, just took the key we were given. That night at 11pm we received phone calls with no answer, which was weird. Then almost at midnight a man and woman came to our room and knocked on the door and said we were not supposed to be in this room. They didn't identify themselves as manager or security. The woman heard my child cough while my husband was going through details and said we could sort it in the morning but we were obviously shaken up and scared that first night. Also angry they woke my 2 year old and 5 year old in the process. I went to the front desk in the morning and asked to speak with the manager on duty who came out with the biggest attitude and told me it happened because we had asked to switch rooms and were in someone else's room. That didn't happen and I don't know a world where it's ok to wake up guests in the middle of the night because of a mistake on the hotels end. He offered me complimentary breakfast and another serve of attitude. It was a shocking and disappointing situation with zero apology and only defensiveness from the hotel. If you want a good location, book it. But I wouldn't recommend this to any family with young children.

Great service. Nice city views. We had a great family get away.
