Our family spring break at big bear was fun, however fun is not a word I will use for the hotel we stayed in. The place is run down, workers there are not in this planet and place was dirty and uncomfortable. The one nice feature about the hotel is the location. It is located conveniently by the village where restaurants and shops are located

Had to switch to 3 different rooms, couldn't adjust the heater the family was sweating through the night, and they charged the wrong card at checkout. Terrible experience.

The hotel looks modern and nicely decorated. The price is a little higher compared to other hotels around the area. No free breakfast, though. The sound proofing is poor if you happen to have kids jumping at night above your floor.

Found a sock under the bed, worried they didn’t change the sheets. Walls are paper thin, could hear people from across hall rooms. Power surges throughout the night whenever the heater would turn on / off. Some outlets did not work. Bed was SO uncomfortable, I kept waking up every hour due to the neck and back pain. Took me about an hour - 2 hrs after waking to feel somewhat better. My family also said the same about the noise and bed. The shower was nice and tv was good. The chairs outside on the balcony are near the floor. It was kind of funny because even my kids had to kneel down and really squat to sit. Location is great, walking distance to the shops. We went to the slopes on the second day and due to the horrible neck and back pain, it really put a damper on our day and we left early. A great night of sleep is necessary when on vacation. Overall 2/5.

Our family has been coming up to Big Bear & staying at the Holiday Inn (prior Northwoods Resort) for 16 years to the annual Fun Run car show. Our car club of 70 members would have rooms blocked off with special rates & our club would host a party in one of the banquet rooms. Last year Holiday Inn said they would no longer honor special rates nor would they block off any rooms. The majority of the 70 car club people stayed at other hotels as the hotel rates tripled. I tried to book our room this year through Holiday Inn. They would not match a 2nd party rate (Hotel.com which was $40 cheaper a night for a King room on 2nd floor facing parking lot. I booked thru Hotels.com. When we arrived at the Holiday Inn Big Bear the front desk tried to put us on the 4th floor in a small room with 2 double beds & a tiny window. The clerk told me when you “don’t” book direct no matter what you reserved originally you get their standard room on the 4th floor. I asked for the manager & after 20 minutes she miraculously found a room on the 2nd floor w/a balcony. With the rates at $250 per night with resort fees this will be the last time at this Holiday Inn. The room was clean with normal ware & mattress comfortable. There was no maid service unless you called front desk. The parking lot was a nightmare as non guests were parking there. There were people partying around the pool until 1am. The restaurant Stillwells was closed. We were told but can’t confirm they had no staff.

Been staying here annually with family for years. Each year it slows more wear and tear. This year, the groundfloor unit had stained carpet, the shear curtains were ripped, sliding glass door floor lock was missing, main door didn’t shut/lock and pocket door for bathroom had no handle- just the holes - so no privacy. Outside grounds are weedy, table and chairs all over the place and peeling paint. Same gal at front desk as last year, she listened to our issues but it seems that like so many businesses the answer is staffing/ management issues. Maintenance came and looked at our room concerns - no solutions. Mgmt. was understanding and offered to reduce the nightly rate. This is not about money, it is about standards, attention to details and security. With so much competition and Airbnb’s available I would love to see the corporate owner invest in this property. The rooms with sliding glass doors should have screens. They have a large patio area - clean up the rocks/weeds, invest in big Fire ring with some comfortable chairs, cornhole games, umbrellas etc - make it a social area. They have a patio couch at the lobby entrance that is old and stained - first impressions folks!! You have an Awesome location and facilities-it is shameful that it is in disrepair and not being used to its potential 😢

I didn't like the noise of children running back and forth until 11:30p from the room above me. I couldn't sleep, and it wasn't pleasant!
