Went here as a child, and go back for memories. Nice handmade furniture and comfortable beds with wondered round house dining bar over the river. Only problem was there was not a coffeemaker in the room so bring your thermos. Please staff. They called me ask their desk closed at 8pm. Very nice

I didn't expect much after reading some negative review on the website. The only reason we picked here is its location. The location is superb, with very short and easy drive (winter condition) to Tahoe City, Alpine, Squaw, and of course access to freeways. Not only Squaw is the best ski resort in California, but also the old Tahoe City where you can sample lots of local restaurants and shops like Bridgetender. Unlike many other motels/inns in the Tahoe area especially South Late Tahoe which serve skiers like hogs, the staff (and guests!) welcomes us nicely and service was more than Best Western, the room is cozy, quiet, and clean, and a big doored and shelved closet stores all the family's winter/ski clothes and gears. And the included 7:00AM continental breakfast really serves us skiers right food and right time--Squaw Kids opens at 8:30 and Squaw's lifts start at 9:00. There are not many guest rooms (~15 as I counted the cars), and during the night, most of the guests are coming for its grand restaurant. These guests' loudness only to add its warmth in a cold winter night in the West! The only take-away is that there is no jacuzzi for our little active kids!
