I can never understand how these places supposedly get good reviews. This place is run down, dirty, and noisy and certainly not relaxing or comfortable. Just really disappointing. I had to apologize to my family as soon as we walked through the door. Convenient location, though with easy access to the beach, restaurants, grocery store, downtown shopping, etc. You’ll want to be at all those places instead of your hotel. Major bummer.

We love this "old style" hotel with great access to the beach.. There are great spots all around to eat.. My favorite is the little Ramen joint just up the hill, but the tacos across the street aren't bad either . This is a favorite spot for our family for several years and a couple name changes of the property Ultimately great vibes, Steller location, clean little rooms that take you back a bit in time but in a great way. All rooms surround welcoming pool even after a day in the ocean.

Lovely staff, Marie and Tamara our reception hosts were delightful to work with. We had a small suite. It was clean, comfortable, private. Parking was easy. Great hotel for the price. Wonderful for families to stay 3 blocks from the main Laguna Beach. We would definitely go back. Laguna hotels were 3 times the price of 14 West.

So, we have stayed here many many times over the years, too bad it’s not the holiday inn anymore as I don’t need to know about the fighting amongst the two families that own this property now, security everywhere in case of what? Fights breaking out between the families and patrons caught in the middle? Our reservation was cancelled by the one management team that had got kicked out. Our credit card was charged twice, because of the shady goings on amongst these families. I have very fond memories here, I’m not sure now if I will ever go back

14 west is in the most beautiful area of Laguna Beach. The afternoon staff were incredibly helpful and nice. The room is very cramped. If you get a room with just one bed you will have plenty of space. If you get two beds, there will be very little space. We had to checkout early and get another hotel. With two small kids, the space was not enough for them. When we checked out we realized that we left our 4 year old sons favorite blanket in the bed under some other blankets. When I went back to retrieve it, the morning staff was very rude. I asked if I could go back into the room because I knew exactly where his blanket was, the gentleman at the desk smirked and said not you can’t go in. Others might really enjoy the hotel but if you want something nicer for the area, you should look elsewhere.

My family and I were disappointed when we walked in our double bed room. The door hit the bed and we couldn’t open it too much which made it difficult because I had a baby stroller. The carpet was disgusting we all wore or shoes in the room the whole time. The curtains to our room were very sheer so people walking by could see one of the beds and there was a light by the next hotel door that was shining in our room all night long. The gazebo is cute and the area is perfect but for almost $400 a night it wasn’t worth it.

14 West is NOT a BOUTIQUE nor a RESORT! Why they ask for a resort fee is beyond me! Be sure to check your receipt as they will add other fees. I can't stress this enough! CHECK YOUR RECEIPT! This is a MOTEL, not a HOTEL. The only good thing, and I MEAN the only good thing about this "MOTEL" is that there is a Ralphs store right across the street to get sanitizing essentials for your stay at 14 West. My family and I all had issues with the TV. If you turn it on, it won't turn off. The rooms are very small. If you book a room with double beds the door to the room will not open all the way because of the bed. Get earplugs, the ACs in the room are very OLD and very LOUD. You can hear the AC in the other rooms. 14 West is a thorn in Laguna Beach. Very disappointing.
