Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Saraland/North Mobile

We stayed here as a stopover before hitting New Orleans so thankfully didn't need to stay any longer. Not sure why it has an 8.2 rating. The receptionist on arrival was rude, no please or thank yous, very abrupt, I felt like I was an inconvenience, even my kids commented on how rude she was! For a huge chain like Wyndham, there should be standards to uphold, management need to sort their staff out, I would think twice about booking any of their hotels again. The hotel had a strong, really overpowering floral cleaner smell, maybe masking something as there was a strong smell of weed on our floor despite it being non-smoking. Room was OK, very tired looking and rough around the edges. Didn't even hang around for breakfast. Would not stay here again and would not recommend.

Immediately when I first walked in I noticed how good it smelled. It was the holiday season so, the smell of spice and cinnamon made me feel warm and welcome. Then I was greeted by a very friendly Front Desk Attendant. The check-in process was very easy and quick. The waffle makers worked seamlessly and the buffet area was clean. My only issues were that our door continuously got jammed and on the morning we were leaving there was a roach on the cabinet. I don't fault the hotel because it's the south and it was really warm when we went. Roaches/water bugs come out of nowhere whenever it gets warm. All in all, its a very simple easy hotel which is great when you have kids.

I stopped here for a night while traveling cross country. I also booked it for a few weeks fromnow for the return trip - but cancelled that booking. The bed in my *non-smoking room* smelled like smoke, the rug was sticky, and the room had a musky smell. The only pro was the shower pressure was good. The walls are also super thin so I was kept up by a barking dog next door and kids jumping and screaming above me. I also don't see what some of the reviews mean by the breakfast being good...it's pastries, cereal, instant oatmeal packets and a waffle maker. Disappointed I just grabbed some danishes - they EXPIRED back in July 2022! I got they after a 10hr drive so just sucked it up. But I will not be returning.
