Muthu Newton Hotel (Near Inverness Airport)

The hotel was unique but old and needed some updates. Our biggest problem is we booked the property based on them stating they have a laundry facility, not just a laundry service. They mentioned this several times in the conviences and family friendly areas. NO FACILITY just a laundry service.

Reception staff didn’t give a great welcome or details regarding hotel facilities. Waiting staff however in restaurant we’re pleasant, helpful and attentive. Had breakfast 2 mornings and quality of food and variety was not good for a 4⭐️ hotel. No glasses in bedroom only 2 plastic disposable cups in bathroom. Not very eco-friendly as our towels were changed when we had hung them up after using as we didn’t want them changed - no sign in bathroom asking if we wanted to re-use our towels. Our room cost £178 pounds per night plus a charge of £16 per person per day for a poor quality breakfast. I will not be returning to this hotel nor recommending it to family or friends - very disappointing!!

What an amazing “castle” to stay in! It’s a 17th century family home that was converted to a hotel in the last century. Our room was beautiful and spacious. The bed had tons of pillows, there was a separate shower and tub, and the full breakfast was delicious. The fob for the room was a highland cow which was a nice touch. The property was an easy walk to the coastline and to downtown Nairn. There were a few areas in the carpet in the main areas that need some repairs but it’s an overall beautiful hotel.
