The hotel is well situated with a few minutes walk to the train station and a few minutes walk to the River Ness from where there are multiple walks to take around and beyond Inverness. The staff were kind and very helpful. Upon arrival, I initially came outside the check-in time, but they let me leave my bags - ditto as I was checking out, I could leave my bags while I went on a walk before my train left. The hotel is small, strikes me as family friendly and nice - I didn't try their food, but I saw some reviews that said it was quite good. In terms of getting to the hotel from the train station, it was so easy, I would definitely recommend this place if you are travelling by train and still want comfort.

We were looking for a night away in Inverness, within walking range of the town centre. We found the Red life which had an executive double room, and we decided to treat ourselves. On arrival, there was nobody at reception and we had to wait for someone to appear. She showed us to our room, which was not in the hotel, but another building across the road. The room was traditionally decorated, but certainly did not feel like an executive room. Looking out of the window it seems the house next door has thrown all their rubbish onto their decking including pushchairs and kids toys. Bathroom was very small, and had an odd blue toilet seat which was loose. Shower did not work properly and was difficult to turn off. Water either freezing or scalding - no in between and couldn’t get the water to go to the handheld shower head . My husband went to reception to be told that there had been no other complaints and it must be us who couldn’t work out how to use it! We’re told they could come over to show us but we’re too busy. Given that it was one of the hottest days of the year, we were annoyed we couldn’t have a proper shower. In the morning, we went over for breakfast and again there was nobody there. We stood for a while, then left our key and went into town where we had a lovely breakfast. Not worth the extra money as in my opinion the room certainly wasn’t ‘executive’. There was a large pull down double bed as well as the king sized bed so felt more like a family room.

The room we stayed in ( a twin ) was below ground level small and very strangely laid out. The only window looked up to the outdoor area and when there were families there it was noisy. The room was overly hot and next to a cupboard that received visits from the staff during the day and early in the morning, The shower head was difficult to use. I have stayed in a number of hotels in Scotland in the past week around this price and this was our least favourite because of the room. The staff were fine, the breakfast pretty good and the location was within walking distance of the town centre close to many other hotels and bed and breakfast places.
