Wonderful location and welcoming staff. We had a comfortable stay and the room was always stocked with plenty of complementary snacks and water. The room was small but that was to be expected. The bathroom was tiny and the shower design was a bit lacking as the floor was easily flooded by the shower if not extremely careful. Overall a lovely stay for our family of four.

Great location, right in the heart of the city. We had a very quiet room, nice decor, with a lovely comfortable bed. Glass of Prosecco after checking in was a nice touch, but they managed to mix up our luggage, delivering one of our cases to my sister’s room in the floor below, and vice versa! Service in the bar was appalling! Before heading out for dinner we stopped for drinks in the bar but nobody came to our table to take an order. After 10 minutes waiting, I went to the bar to order, only to be told it was “table service only”, but then had to wait a further 10 minutes for a waiter to come to our table to take the order, and then an eternity to get served!!! The place was not even busy, so there was absolutely no excuse for the appalling service. When we returned later in the evening with family for a night cap, the service was equally bad. I would recommend not drinking in their bar!! For breakfast my wife and I decided on Eggs Benedict. Hers was perfect, but the muffin on mine was so hard I couldn’t cut it, and ended up trying to saw through it! They charge a hefty price for their breakfast, and based on my experience I’d say it’s not worth it.

Perfect location right near shops and restaurants. Very walkable. The hotel is renovated and upscale and very pleasant. The concierge services were great. The only complaint is when you pull up there is no parking or pull off stop and no help with luggage. I went to check in and asked for help as our car was double parked and the desk agent said we had to bring our own things inside. There are no luggage carts either. I found it a little stressful to double park and haul the family’s bags in. They did put our bags in our room once it was ready however. It’s a big and busy city center hotel. They also have a nice attached restaurant and bar as well as coffee shop. It’s a solid choice for a stay.

Check in was straightforward, then we were asked what time we would be checking out? I replied probably after breakfast, we were told our room Cards would be disconnected at 11am, let them know if we were planning on being later!! There was no AC in the Room, there was a fan in the wardrobe which worked fine, we still had to open a window which looked onto the back of the hotel, during the day there were service trucks making deliveries & refuse collection & bottle collection, which was very noisy. from 6am the deliveries started again!! We had a Room next to the Cleaners Room, which again was noisy, 1st thing in the am, even at night. The carpet was quite stained & the bathroom was small & dated. On our last morning, we went down for breakfast & on our return there was a child’s travel cot & towels left outside our room, I felt they couldnt wait to get rid of us. The breakfast was Ok, Tea & coffee served from a thermos flask, not what you would expect from 5* Hotel. I asked for a fresh pot of tea which I got, the cold Continental Breakfast was served from the Bar worktop, nothing was in a Chiller, again not what you would expect from a 5* Hotel. We had a lovely time in Edinburgh, not the 5* experience from this Hotel.
